im sayin 228 230 since hes already traction impaired..the bigger cam may help him slow his traction down..to me a 220 seems a bit on the small side but hey what i do i know

What cam is on your 6.0 and how do you like it? I don't know **** about cams which is why I am asking for help. According to TSP website the 220 has 35 rwhp avg gains and the 228 had 40 rwhp gains. I know he will only do this once so I'm trying to get it right.

He'd still need/want to a tq in it to maximize the potential of the cam. A cheap tb tq atleast? Used cam? 200-300, springs, pushrods gaskets etc... 400, longtubes 500, tb tq 100-150. You could do all if you get the right prices on parts.

I agree with you. It's a heavy truck, you need torque. You want reliability and good street manners. You also want to keep your cyl pressure up there and not put a big lopey cam in. I would say you're close. I would put in a TSP 220/220 with a 114 LSA or 216/220 if you want it with a little more grunt and midrange punch.

Proof is in the pudding, here's RED04REGENCYRST's TR220 cammed 6L truck. Look how gorgeous his power curve is. He has torque everywhere, and all his power under 6,000 Rpm's. Why would you want power higher? You're only going to decrease the life of the motor and you never drive up there anyways. You want responsiveness. Credit goes to RED04REGENCYRST for stealing his 6L dyno chart

[QUOTE=tarinitup;3880462]My bro is wanting to mod his truck and asked me for help deciding what to do. He has an 06 vortec max LQ9 ECSB with 4.10s, intake, exhuast, efans, and HPTuners. He daily drives his truck and wants to maintain good drivability but wants 13's in the 1/4. I told him cam, stall, and longtubes would get him there but he can only afford 2 of the 3. Which two would give him the best times?

He wants 13's in 1/4; power full time. Does that mean he goes down the track full time? No! First, what r current ETs? Devise plan from there. Spend some, but not all for addt'l mods. See how that goes & how close to ET u r. You know it'll be quicker. And he'll like it... Then, if u know u'll go over budget for another mod, hold back enuff for n2o; useon qtr mile only.

Hard to beat other than refills.

Whatever route u go, good luck! I say just take him for a ride in yours. No n2o, at first! then...
