Vortec Silverado build
I haven't been on here very much, but looking around this seems to be the best place for anything on goin fast! Anyways, my truck is a 1996 Silverado that has a fresh 350 bored .030 over with Keith Black flat tops and a delta cam. Well, for the time being
I get my Vortecs on monday. They are ported and polished and bowl-blended, valve spring seats are being cut for the specs on the cam among other things. For the cam, i am thinking about the Comp XE284H, as this is what Comp reccomended for my setup. Any opinions on this cam?
The intake will be a performer RPM Vortec. I think that i will be getting a 2800 stall (truck also has a TH350) and some 1.6 roller rockers. The only thing i haven't decided on is the carb. Anyone running a Summit brand carb? It looks alot like the Demons, which is what i was planning on getting. Im thinking that i will be getting a 750 CFM or something along those lines... Oh, and this is a Street/Strip truck, as i have a '90 Integra as my DD Whatchya think?

I'm curious about the Comp cam specs...don't have every Comp part number memorized lol. I checked their site though, and the specs are (at .050) 240/246 (advertised 284/296) .574/.578 110...but upon further inspection it's a big block cam...won't fit into your 350
If this helps your build, here's a little info from one of my old small block Chevy cams: I used to run a 292 Magnum in my 350 powered 71 Camaro, with a 3k converter. Advertised duration was 292/292, with .501/.501 lift, and a 110 LSA. This thing pulled all the way to 7k and was still going, and worked well with the 4.10's that I was running at the time. I had a 750 carb on it and it didn't run very well, so I stepped down to a 650 double pumper, and it was a perfect match. Oh yea, it sounded real mean

HYDRAULIC-Street/strip, 2800+ stall, likes headers & gears, rough idle.
Hyd. 2300 to 6500 rpm operating range,12-250-3 part number, XE284H grind number, 284/296 advertised, 240/246 at 0.050", .507 int./ .510 exh. 110° lobe seperation angle.
They have a new version of this same cam with the 4 / 7 swap as well. Grind number XE284H-10.
If nothing else, it should sound pretty good. Just curious, I know it doesn't have to be the original motor, but being a '96 I was wondering why you weren't possibly looking at an hydraulic roller? Especially with today's oils, folks have been having a harder time keeping flat tappets alive.

Oh it sounds good, ive listened to many sound clips on youtube already
The block is a 014 casting out of a '73 camaro, and i can't afford retro-fit lifters. Heads are SUPPOSED to be done tomorrow or tuesday, then hopefully i can pick them up soon. I am excited, this damn thing is a turd with the 993s.
