what is the biggest cam that i can run in my gen4 5.3 aluminum

Default what is the biggest cam that i can run in my gen4 5.3 aluminum

i want to know what is the biggest came i can go with in my 5.3 aluminum motor or what will i have to do to make a ms3 or ms4 work

i may be wrong but if i remember right the biggest would be a .604 lift, i believe, im not 100 percent on that though, others will chime in im sure but i know i have saw a member run a cam with that lift in a 5.3

ms4 is a BIG cam in a 5.3. what other supporting mods do u have??

well i just got the motor but its going to be a carb set up with longtube headers and port and polish my 799 heads

Would peak really high on a small motor like a 5.3L like in the neighborhood of 6500 RPM depending on heads/intake, just make sure and check PTV... if the heads are milled any it probably wont clear without valve reliefs.

so the tsp 233/239 would be a perfect match since it from 1900-6500 and the carb intake will be either a victor jr or performer

That cam with a carb intake will peak past 6500. I'd assume closer to 7k

Big ole cam is gonna be a turd in traffic and lowend is not gonna be good

this will be a track car 1988 camaro z28 thats why im trying to put a nice size cam in it but retain all stock bottom end and port polish heads

haha would have been good to know it was going in a car instead of a truck....that makes a little bit of difference.
