It's really more heat cycles than miles. You don't want to put a ton of miles on it all at once. I'd say 5 or 6 ~20 mile trips would be fine, while allowing enough time to let the rear end cool off between trips. After you complete the heat cycles, you can drive more aggressive. The 500 mile rule is more for fluid change than break in procedure. Be sure to run conventional gear oil also. I run Castrol 75-90 (or maybe its 80-90) Hypoy-C gear oil.

heavy chevy, i can tell a big diffrence, i had 323s. cant really lay into it for 500 miles, after break in im putting on my TA Performance cover and new fluid. Wheatley tuned my truck, and i have an appt with him tomm evening to retune it for the gears. guess im gonna drive around houston this weekend to rack up them 500 miles!!!
