what to do for a safe 7000rpm on 5.3/6l80e
the reason i want the high rev limiter is a bash dunes and i need more RPM so i wont loss power fast
i got my cam and all parts for a cam swap and the springs are on the way
here are my parts
compcams 219/222 ,.606/.601 , 111+4 lsa, 107icl
i have ls7 lifters and 7.425 prods
stock rockers, patriot extreme dual gold valve springs rated at .660"
ls2 timing chain, ls1 chain dampner, arp head bolts
will buy a milling high pressure for safty
pat specd me the cam and i said i want a 6500rpm rev limit
now even though i didnt install it yet i want more rpms
would this cam give up on me befor 6700-6600 or even 6800rpms?
what about valve float?
i heard the ls1 floats @ arround 6800rpms?

You won't have any valve float with those springs. I doubt that cam will make much power past 6500.. Will it turn 7000? Yes I'm sure it will.
What's this going in? You can't run an ls1 balancer with truck accessories. Some people will say you have to run aftermarket rod bolts if your turn over 6500.. I put over 100 bottles thru my 5.3 turning 7000 on stock rod bolts. Just sayin..

i dont have the ls1 harmonic balancer i have the chain dampner
do you really think that the cam will drop after 6500? i hope not
ill see what the dyno says about that, my main concern is what is the max safe rpm for my application?

Also your friend probably has this on a corvette or a lighter car. The additional weight of the truck contributes alot to additional load on the transmission.
Up to you, but my suggestion would be to get 4.10's or something, you will be happy with them!
