I agree, but I owuldnt run a stock cam with a stock torque converter. Aftermarket higher stall rated torque converters wake the trucks right up esp. the 1999+ GEn 3/4 trucks.
On my GEN 1E Vortec 350 my stock S-10 L35 4.3L V6 torque converter really helped my acceleration and my L31 350's power/torque curves happen at a MUCH lower rpm than the GEn3 and GEN 4 engines do. If it helped my truck out a bunch, I can only imagine the HUGE difference a higher stall TC would make behind the newer rev happy 4.8,5.3, 6.0 and 6.2l engines.
BTW I get around 2700rpm on the tach at WOT, in 1st gear, with the rear tires locked. The stock 96-02 Vortec L31 350/L30 305, and 94-96 iron head LT1 350 and the 1994-96 L99 4.3l V8(yes 4.3l/265ci V-8) camshaft has 192°/197° dur. @ 0.050" .412"/.427" lift 111° LSA.
My point is if my 2700rpm TC helps my truck woith its puny stock cam, a performance TC will go crazy with perf. cam in a newer truck.
When I step up to a proper aftermarket TC I wont go lower than 3000 rpm, maybe even higher if I swap out cams.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
BTW Nice truck, I really like those B4V VHO trucks, Im glad you got a 2005 and not the 1st year 2004. The 14 bolt is a much stronger rear.
peace

This is a 230/234 in mine and 3200 converter that acts like 4000. Most wouldn't consider it a dd. But, I get 14-15 mpg in town since the retune.

If you want to keep stock converter the 216 or 218 cam mentioned would be a nice dd for 6.0.
