secondary things like an oil change after 200 miles, coolant and distilled water to refill, new crank bolt, new water pump and timing cover gaskets...

new water pump gaskets and timing cover gaskets just because it's a good idea.

You can pick both of those up from any local parts store, they're usually in stock or readily available.

Just the gaskets, not the whole parts. They are fragile and are not reuseable, although you could risk it if you are really cheap. Texas speed and performance sells a simple swap kit with the gaskets and bolt included.

what is REQUIRED is some LS6 valve springs and a retune. along with the gaskets and fluids

some additional parts that you can add and are easy to go ahead and add now are
pushrods
timing chain
oil pump
better roller rockers
lifters, if you are going to pull the heads, you dont have to, btw

that cam might pull to 6800 rpms but sure wont go to 68000

hook the tach up to a 12v source, ground out to frame, and the signal wire can hook into the tach signal wire coming out the back of the cluster.

on the tach signal wire, i just searched to be sure and everything i can find says the white wire, but i could have sworn i hooked mine into the purple wire, but its been so long i cant remember

you dont need hardened pushrods but you want to make sure the stockers are the right length.

I would get some LS6 springs and the GM cam change gasket kit. Get some Dexcool, Water Wetter, and stuff for an oil change and you'll be set.
