What would this Cam Be Like in a 5.3L
G5x1 Custom Cam 112 LSA, 228/232 Duration, 588/574 Lift
Ok, the reason I ask is because I can get one cheap....I know I will have to change my springs....but, performance wise.....what could I expect??
Dog down low but scream thru the mid range and top end??? The engine is all stock right now and will be going in my 1957 Chevy Truck.

The lift is ok , but the duration a little high for a 5.3 ...220 would be ideal and proven time an time again (TR220/tsp/220) or lower 212/216...215/215...212/218 etc. with no stall converter..
-That cam would probably start making good power around 3000+ rpm so to take fulladvantage you would want a 3000+ stall and lt headers with full exhaust
-If its just for a cruiser and your looking to add a little oomph than go with one of the proven grinds imo......alot better out there for a 5.3 truck...save up some $ and do it once

Definitely soggy down low, I'd recommend at least a 3600 converter IMO, and some headwork to take advantage of the lift, and of course a decent gear in the rear since that cam won't come on until around 3400 if I were to guess. I'd imagine that the tuning will be a challenge, but a good tuner can handle it. It'll sound mean in a hot rod 57 for sure though.

It will run great on the top end. For sure needs a 3600 converter minimum. It would run damn good on a freeway run. Id say get a 4000-4400 converter for it to run best

Thanks for all the input....this is a used cam by the way....what about a regrind to get the duration down to around the 220/224 area??? I can get this cam for 60 bucks and I might just for the heck of it. Dont know much about regrinds...would it even be an option??
