What do you guys think about TEA Stage 2? Would these be a good setup for my 5.3?

1200$. Found a good deal on TEAs. They are new, but need a spring set. They are 241 castings that are milled .030. Chambers are 62cc. Would the 241 work on my engine? They have some good flow numbers form TEA. I think the 62cc chambers would raise my CR slightly, which I'm ok with.

The PRC 2.5 5.3s are your best bet with that budget. It's a proven 30 rwhp gain.

Yea, I'm scared of PRC also, and anything that comes from Patriot. Patriot seems to have a good rep here and on LS1Tech, but from talking to my father, who has his own company building race engines since 1972, and his engines hold over 40 national records, he says that he's seen nothing good come from Patriot, although he's not into the GENIII stuff, so we really can't comment on that. Nonetheless, I'm leary...

Not sure on the best bang for buck 5.3 heads, but I'm sure that Joe can help you out. I've been a fan of WCCH since I've "met" Richard, but I know that they're out of your budget

Almost forgot, in reference to your injector question, seems like you can "over injector". 80-85* IDC seems to be the way to go...

You can share info about the PRCs Joe. Just because something is sold by a sponsor doesnt mean the info cant be shared. Im sure youre familiar with the term slander, as long as its backed up by proof I see no reason to not share. Im not here to censor information and it will not be deleted or edited by me. Just keep the post factual and there wont be a problem

After I learn how to tune better I fully intend on adding a set of ported heads to my LQ4 so this subject benefits myself also.

To the OP there are a lot of people who have had great luck with TEA...

Id shoot for keeping your CR to a maximum of 10.5:1, your stock CR would be fine. Of course this all depends on if you throw a blower on it later on down the road.

Thumbs up

O.P., I do believe that if you have the 5.3 with 243/799 heads, that combo nets 9.9:1 static compression ratio. Like 1Slow said above, you'd probably be fine at 10.5:1 and a Maggie/ TVS definitely as they have lower IAT's in the pressurized part of the manifold. Guys supercharge factory LS2s with M112/122/and TVS's all the time, all that's needed is good management of engine timing in the tune, oh, and running 91+ octane. Good luck with your endeavors!

yeah they have guys with ss trailblazer that boost the ls2 but not pushing much. if you do that, keep it low boost. and as far as i know, 5.3 heads are basically 241/ls1 heads with smaller chamber. 243s are ls6/ls2 heads, basically small chamber 317/6.0 heads. good luck any way you go with it and have fun
