The crank, and first design 6.0 rods are exactally the same. Later on around 05 they changed to a thicker rod that has a floating pin. It was also used in the LS2 motor's. You can NOT bore a 4.8/5.3 block out to a 6.0L unless it's an early one that has a 6.0 cast above the 4.8/5.3 designation... These blocks seem to be few and far between though and there is not a whole lot of documintation about them. The furthest you can overbore the average 5.3L Blocks is around 3.898 - 3.905 . It's highly recomended that you Have it sonic checked before going that far... some block castings are thin and Have gone through the wall when trying to go that far... They now make forged pistons for the stock 5.3L application so you dont have to bore it out to LS1 5.7L spec. You will still need a better rod though.... FWIW Weisco Makes the piston and they are a shellved Item so you dont have to place a custom order.
The standard truck rods that Have a 143 cast into them are a pres fit pin you have them bushed for a floatin pin if you want to use them with a forged piston. It's really not cost effective though with aftermarket Rods being as cheap as they are now a days.
Around 05 up, The Iron 6.0L engine and the LS2 engine's use a conecting rod with a floating pin design. These can also be had used for less then the cost of bushing the early rods.
I don't want to be rude or discourage you but you should do alot more research and figure out what type of package you want to put together before you go out buying parts.

Just to clear this I looked up the parts in the part catalogue for GM. The 4.8L and the 5.3L H.O. L33 use the same pistons (same part number). This is why the 5.3L L33 uses a bigger chamber head and still has a higher compression piston. The piston for 05'-07' 4.8L is part number 89017577 as is the part number for the L33 5.3L.
