yea i would also look into a ls6 cam, it would be the biggest i think i would go with out a stall (But hell i ran a 3000 converter in a stock cam motor for a month) and i wish i would of ran the truck before the cam with just full bolt ons and converter and tune. the thing ran damn good.
but u say u want alot or lope as well then i would go with a small cam on a 110 or 111 lsa!
i wish i could find a TR 224 on a 111 or 110
hope this helps

As to answer your question about not wanting a converter...
Chances are my 4L60 will crap out on me at any time.. then I plan on getting a FLT 4L80 and doing a swap then finishing out my 6.0 build.
So I really don't wanna put alot of money into a tranny I'm not even going to be using.

I have a Comp 206/212 on a 114 LSA, it's a great daily driver with a noticeable improvement over stock throughout the RPM band. It sounds almost stock though, if that's a concern for you (some folks want a cam that sounds mean, this one doesn't). I'm running the factory converter and it works just fine with this cam. IMO, these trucks could benefit from a mild converter even stock, but it's not necessary.
This cam and PCM tuning from PCMforLess knocked 9/10's off my ET and was good for an extra 7mph
