Default 454 Ss

What is the difference between the factory 454 ss motor and the aftermarket 454's...i know that one rates in at i think over 400 hp and the factory one that came in the 454ss is around 260..sorry if my numbers are off...

Better heads on the aftermarket. Cam and intake differences also. Headers are probabbly recomended too. Along with some fuel system upgrades.

compression, cam, heads, etc. they aren't really comparable. a 454SS isn't much of a midsize or compact either though...

The factory 454ss engine has an RV cam, crappy intake and peanut port heads.

RV cam is a term from the early 90's, like 3/4 cam from the 60's. there is no such thing. the 454 TBI engine just had a small cam. it didn't have any upper rpm power at all.
