Budget reg cab sportside s10 4.8l / nv3500 build

Yeah I think it will be a nice touch. I’ll probably make some thicker support brackets to bolt onto the back side and have my buddy tony tig weld it onto the wing.
also I started pulling the 4 cylinder out tonight. Everything up top is done as of right now just need to jack it up and start on the underside. Should be pretty easy to get it out. I plan on pulling the front clip off or at least the passenger side fender and front end because I’m gonna put my non ac heater box in while the motor is out. Also I’m gonna repaint the frame rails after cleaning them up. Its always hard to pull a perfectly good running motor out to do a swap but always worth while in the end. When I did my swap in the insight I went back and forth for a few weeks because I really liked the car and didn’t wanna have it down but from start to finish I had it running and driving in 5 days and most of that time was building the motor mounts for it and the full exhaust since no one makes neither for that car. First time I drove it I was extatic with how strong the car felt.

Man I wish I could have got my swap done that fast! Ended up selling my other truck a couple days after pulling the motor out and had no way to bring home building supplies for my house projects. Found out I can fit 8 foot lumber in the Tahoe with the hatch closed.
So since that Insight took 5 days the S10 should be done by Tuesday at the latest?

Honda’s are easy man. I can seriously pull a whole motor and trans on one in 45 minutes taking my time. They are like little LEGO cars no joke. As for the S10 I don’t have a time line but I’m going to take my time and try to make sure everything is perfect that way the truck isn’t a headache down the road. I think my main concerns as of right now are the wiring from my stand alone harness to c101’ making sure that the gauges work, if my 2.2l driveshaft will fit the nv3500 or if I’ll have to build my own or have one made and the last one is fitment. I wanna make sure the motor fits in and doesn’t rattle on stuff once it’s done everytime the engine moves. If I had it running the week after then next I would be pretty happy with that since it’s not something I’m super familiar with yet.

pulled the front clip mostly off. Looks like the non ac heater box uses a different blower motor that is about an inch shallower. My son is having a b day party today so progress will be slowed a little by that but it’s coming along well. Next step is drain motor and trans oil, pull drive shaft, exhaust, Tranny cross member and then she’s out. Gonna spend a decent amount of time cleaning and painting stuff while the motor is out so it has a nice clean home to go into. Also I’m planning on relocating the battery to under the bed behind the axle.

Motors out. 4 cylinder drive shaft fits right on the v6 trans. Also looks like the clutch line will plug right in as well. I’m gonna spend tomorrow cleaning the shop in between tunes and pressure washing the truck. Motor came out pretty easy.

Test fitting the motor. Looks like the power steering pump is gonna need a slightly smaller pulley. Other then that oil pan clears great if the motor is dropped in without the trans. Silverado slave clicks right into the 2.2l clutch line. The 5/8” heater core hose inlet will also need bent down slightly to clear the intake manifold. Shouldn’t be a big issue if I’m careful doing it.

Alleviated the power steering clearance issue with a doorman 300-201 smaller ps pulley along with bending the lines a little bit. Pulled it back out to paint the subframe/ frame rails and install the Jeep steering shaft. Once the paint is dry motor will be going back in for good. I’m also gonna buff the paint on the back of the firmwall since it has allot of water spots on it that should clean off. I decided to drop the motor in by it’s self then put the trans on from the underside since that way I don’t have to trim the subframe and it seems to fit great without any trimming.
