Well, I mean: no drone delivery or anything hahaha

 

Ordered one off amazon for $15, should be here tomorrow. I almost never order anything off amazon, idk why just haven’t gotten in the habit of it I guess. Almost everything I buy is on eBay. It will be nice not having to wait forever for it though. We have a big amazon hub warehouse about 5 minutes from my house that was just built this last year.

also I realized the drivers side upper control arm is a bit too close to the header so I’m gonna pull the header back off and trim it a little for clearance. My goal for today is to get the wiring finished and harness installed and Intake manifold installed. Then it will be down to coolant hoses, bleeding the clutch and building an exhaust. No rush though. I feel I’ve made pretty good progress so I’m gonna try to slow it down a little and make sure everything is perfect.

 

didn’t get as much done today as I wanted but I got the drivers side header pulled off, clearances the upper control arm and slightly dented runners 3 and 5 for the steering shaft. Got the exhaust mostly fitted up but I ran out of gas to weld it so I’m getting a new bottle tomorrow. I figured it would be easier leaving the intake manifold off till the exhaust is done so I don’t have to struggle to try to plug in the o2’s with no room to grab them. The exhaust should turn out pretty sweet dumping out of the bottom of the passenger side bed. I still need to fab up some hangers also and finish the battery tray and mount I started on this morning. Also my new rear tires came in and they look great. Should have it fired up by the weekend. Its been pouring down rain for the last week and should be raining for the next week so I have nothing to rush really.

 

Still looks like a big mess but it’s coming together well now. Intake manifold is on for good or at least till I get the m16x1.5 adapter Monday to hookup the S10’s oil sending unit. Y pipe is built and installed. The rest of the exhaust will be super easy. I put a 3” v band right after the flex pipe to make it easier to install and for doing the muffler section without having to pull the y pipe. Finishing the exhaust is next then the battery relocation, then hoses and finishing it up. Still need to bleed the clutch but it’s in the final assembly mode which feels great. Also got the call that my spoiler is finished being bent on a brake so I’ll pick that up tomorrow morning after I drop my kiddo off at school.

I might. I wanna take my insight out first though.

got the spoiler back and finished it. I still need to clean it a little bit and I may add some supports on the back side for looks but it’s pretty sturdy. Also got my new tires for the back. Still have a small list of things to finish up but I have four cars to tune today so I’ll widdle away at things while I can.

 

Truck is just about ready to fire. Tried to load a map on it with vats delete but it keeps time outing, had another truck do this once and it was due to a low battery so I’m charging it up right now. Funny thing is the Chinese harness obd2 port doesn’t seem to work right but my stock one does. I was able to download the stock tune off the pcm, it came out of an 02 avalanche apparently. Still need to fill the trans with fluid, finish the battery box and put coolant in it. I’m gonna go back over everything a few times to check and see if I missed anything or what not. I’m excited about it. Unfortunately I have to run out to Cornelius tomorrow to tune 4 cars.


also sold the stock 2.2 Motor and tranny for $500 today to some guy off offerup.

finished up the exhaust, may add a tip later that looks a little better. For now I just wanna hear it run and drive it.

Its alive! Clutch needs bled or pusher lengthened though. Also battery holder needs finished, trans needs fluid put in, same with power steering. But it ******* runs 🤙 super happy. Had a little wiring mishap because I didn’t think I needed to pin in the ignition 12v power to da china harness (blue connector 19) because it had a wire supposed to be doing that but no biggie.


One thing for anyone else looking. If going from a drive by wire pcm that can run both like my 0411, you have to go to hptuners under “systems” then “general” then “systems options” under “etc” witch I think stands for electric throttle cable or something turn the 1 to a 0 to disable it under the vehicle platform in this case gmt800

 

Took it for its first test drive tonight. I’m used to Honda’s where once you do a swap there’s always a few more issues but I have to say this thing runs and sounds amazing. I took it out to the weigh station and it weighs about 300lbs more then it did with the 2.2l, more then I expected but after driving it totally fine with me. Scales at 3350 with me in it, 3200 without.

I spent allot of time today bleeding the clutch hydraulics and I got it allot better but there was still about 1/4-3/8” of push at the master before it started working so I cut a small section off of a 1/4” drive extension and stuck it in there. Now it’s about perfect. Shifts easily with 1/4 of the pedal depressed.

for some reason my map sensor is reading 31” of vacuum non stop so I’ll have to check out the wiring, I scaled it for the gen 4 map sensor and that made it run allot better but I still wanna get that figured out.

I seriously can’t believe how good this thing sounds even with shorty headers. It lit the tires up in 2nd and a little in 3rd, when I checked the data log it was only at 15 degrees of timing after 4K lol. Definitely will pickup a lot of power once it’s tuned.

I tallied it up and I have about 2900 total into the swap including all the small parts bills from parts stores for nick nack things like hose clamps, hoses, new oil sending unit (broke the 2.2l one installing it lol) and I sold the 2.2l yesterday for $500.

there’s no rattles which is one thing I was scared of with how close the header was to the steering shaft. No exhaust leaks, no fluid leaks and the motor doesn’t smoke at all. I had really no idea what condition it was in before I got it or how many miles it had so I’m just really happy it all worked out. This truck is a blast to drive so far. I’m really in love with it.
