Tonight I came home from getting fitted for my tux (I'm in my buddy's wedding), and found a package at my door. It looked like this when I opened it:
I sat around the house for awhile trying to talk myself in to working on the truck because it was so damn hot outside(90*). I finally did guilt trip myself in to going out there and this is what I got done.
Cut the frame:
Installed motor mounts and installed the test motor...Kind of:
Almost there. I need to cut a little more on the frame and then swap the PS pulley and its in. This is how close it is (not really much cutting mostly the pulley):

Tubular upper control arms from speedway motors (two gbody 8" long ones) will do the trick on getting you some more room in that area. They are also pretty light and not expensive at all. Good progress so far.

I'm using the H3 alpha pan. So far so good on fitment and I don't foresee any. Lots of people use this pan with no modification to the cross member under the motor.

Man I wish the H3 pan was available in 2007-8 when I was building my truck. I used the LS-2 pan and it all clears now but was a major PITA. Great progress you will love it when finished. I daily drove mine with my 6.0 for a year with a two hour round trip commute. I put over 30K on her so far and it has been stone reliable and making almost 25 on the highway as long as I can keep my foot out of it.
