Default S10 reg cab sound system

Well, since I've had my S10 the past month or so I've made some changes K&N drop in filter, trimmed the tailpipe back, did a 3/3 drop and did an oil change already... Mostly routine stuff except the drop.

Next addition will be some tunes for my 45+ minute drive one way to work. Right now this thing is still stock in the stereo dept. I was thinking either 2 8"s or one 10", some nice components, new head unit and an amp or two to run it all. I don't want to spend much as it is just my "beater" but I do want it to sound better. Not trying to rattle half the cab loose either. Just good, well tuned sounds.

How have some of you done yours? I don't want to sacrifice leg room either, this thing is small enough as is

Are there any pre-formed boxes out there that will hold a single 10 and sound decent?

I don't want an MTX sub, I'm getting a JL, plus, I'm going to lose legroom with that one, something I'm not really to do. Ill probably be looking at having one custom built to go behind the passenger seat.

i have an 82 s10 with camaro buckets and console. i have 2 12" fosgates, 1 behind the driver, 1 behind the passenger and amp in between. i will say i have tons more leg room in this truck with the subs, than what i had when i had this system in my 91 s10 with a bench seat. im no midget either, im 6'6 about 280# give or take(depends on what buffet i hit on givin day). i had bought these boxes at a local stereo shop. now, are these boxes the correct air space for these subs??? do they sound good, yes. it did take a little messin with them to get them the way i wanted. i put a 2" port in each box, and filled the boxes with the cotton filler. im not in to the heavy base music much, if i was, i would look into doing a blow thru type system.

It's not gonna go behind the seat without sacrificing legroom. All 5 S10s I've had were subwoofer-less, there is not a lot of margin for error there. The 92 I still own had 2 10's in a pretty slim truck box when I bought it and it was on the second last forward click on the seat track. With the small volume of the cab, go with some good quality components with a solid 6.5 in the doors or kick panels and you should be happy. Otherwise, introduce your knees to your steering column and hope they get along OK.

Ive got a 10" sub in my RC right now that I built. It is shallow enough that that seat is as far back as the headrest can go before hitting the back window. You can build one small enough as long as it is not any taller than the plastic liner thing on the back wall. Mine is still on the small side I think for airspace. I think had I made it a couple inches longer, it would sound better.

I'm gonna build a box for mine. It wont be the correct airspace but the one I had in ole blue wasn't either and it sounded great! I don't plan on loosing any leg room either. I think they make subs for small spaces I might look into one of those.
