Well guys,
I think i found out why some of you think it sounds "off"
I believe my lifters are bad.
driving tonight on the freeway, my Truck starting ticking pretty decent.
Then i pulled over at a store, let it idle for a few mins, and it was fine, as soon as i pulled away and increasing revs the ticking came back.
I didnt replace the lifters when i did the cam swap.
So what lifters can i run ? LS7 Lifters? I just want a good lifter that wont break the bank,
Thanks, i knew the truck should run better than it was, but i thought it was cuz i needed a stall.

I don't know about your lifters being bad just because you hear ticking. The tick is pretty common on these engines, and since I did cam, headers, ect.. I can hear alot of ticking at certain speeds, and I just replaced my lifters with ls7s too.

I never said it sounded off, just different. i listened to it again and i think its mostly just the camera, on some of the deep notes just sounds like the speaker input distorts or something, might be some of the true duals also who knows. but i can def tell it sounds good. reminds me of the asa cam for some reason.
and id make sure its really the lifters before digging back in it all over again, how many miles on the truck??

Oh dont think im offended guys LOL !
I just worry when someone says it sounds off, just want everything to be installed correctly! No woories LOL!
I know there will be some valve train noise, but this ticking is pretty bad at times.
It seems to stop at idle, like the lifters are pumped up, but then at taking off under load and driving all around the motor starts ticking pretty good, very noticeable, kinda like a lifter or two is collapsed.
Also the truck bogged some and felt like the valves werent fully opening/closing causing poor power issues. Just doesnt run like it should and is slowly declining in power. NO CEL.
Im not looking foward to go back in and tareing the top end down if i dont have to, but im not sure what else it could be.
BTW the motor has 182,000 on it, rans A1 great before the cam install. Lifters i didnt replace, Just Cam, springs, pushrods , LS2 timing chain, LS6 boil pump.
And just put a low mileage used head on the pass. side due to breaking a rocker arm bolt on the original head.
