Yeh, but it's nice to start off with that new motor feeling comfortable instead of dealing with that knot in your stomach when no one is answering your tuning questions/threads the day you want to hit the track.

FWW, my runs at the track on any given day are too inconsistent for me to make to much of an argument but switching out of 4wd to 2wd IMHO doesn't do much. I am willing to admit there might be a little on the table but I don't think it's much. BUT, I still do it, I still switch out, but I don't think it nets me much if anything between the times I forget to switch out and then the next run I do switch out. (you might have tied or barely beat that stang)

Yeah mine didn't switch till I was about at 1/8 mile but that was a 10sec pass so not as much time for the switch.

Yeah so if you shift it out 2 -3 sec into a 8 sec run and it takes 2-3 sec to dis engauge you are only out of 4 for a couple seconds of your run. .5-.8mph is a good gain for that short of a time.

Well, this weekend's fun has taken its toll. My 4l60e is toast. It's slipping in second so I assume I burned out the 2-4 band. I thought I felt it slip in 4th without the converter locked, too. Now I have some work ahead of me.

Does anyone know the company that makes that nice crossmember for the 4l80 swap? It looks like a tubular factory piece and was pretty cheap if memory serves me correctly.

Another option is to drop the trans and change the band. I'd throw in a Vette servo, too. I have both parts here.

What would you guys do? I want to get racing again.
