yeah, never really thought about the torque multiplication. I was thinking of going with maybe a 32-3600 stall and the 224 cam. However, doing just the 4l80e and a stall is an option as well. One of my original goals WAS to go 12s on the stock cam. I dont know if anyone has done that in an ecsb. The 80e is gonna soak up some power, that's for sure. It seems like the modding route I've taken has been so unconventional. I'll probably end up doing cam last, whereas most people add a cam first. And I've already added ported heads too. LOL.

You really gotta ask yourself the question before you set your goals.

Do I want to run fast at the track, do I want to be fast on the street, or do I want to be quick but still drive normal?

Some might say you can have all 3, but I say they're wrong because if part of what you want to do is run faster at the track, you're going to wind up doing a mod that will kill streetability sooner or later.

I daily drive my truck, and I can tell you, somedays it is kinda rough. I enjoy driving my truck most of the time, but other days it just feels like a drag driving it. If I were to go back and change some things, I might, but my truck wouldn't be as fast as it is now. I really love running fast at the track, and I'll admit, I really wanna be one of the faster ECSB 5.3s N/A. To me I guess it is worth it to sacrifice some of my driveablitiy, and if it gets too bad I can always change the setup.

I will not sacrifice driveability. But that's the advantage of the extra displacement over the 5.3, I wont need to go too wild to get into the 12s. I'm almost certain that the 224 cam, stall, and 4l80e would put me into the 12s. If I had to pick 1 of your 3 categories it would be this one, no doubt: "I want to be quick but still drive normal." Another thing to consider is gas mileage. I've never been one to complain too much about it, but this business of 11-13 mpg is getting old real fast and tough on the wallet. I've never seen a gas gauge going down so fast before. Almost makes me with my sending unit was still screwed up; it was better when I had no idea how fast gas was being consumed.

Is your truck a RCSB or ECSB?

David (dlt76028) is running mid to low 12s now with his new setup in his RCSB.

LQ4 with milled heads, 224R, bolt ons, yank 3500, built 4l60e, and 4.10s, running on slicks.

I drove his truck and it felt really similar to mine as far as just driving it goes (WOT was a different story haha). His converter was almost identical to how mine felt, if not a little looser at part throttle below 3500 rpms.

yeah, he said the new Yank is really loose. Mine is ecsb, same as yours except GMC. Compression is somewhere around 10.6-7:1, so fairly healthy. It should take to a cam well. I just wish I could drive someone's stalled truck...just to get a feel for it. But like I said, I've yet to see another performance GM truck around here. Out of probably 100 vehicles running at the track when I went, not a single other GM truck. 1 SRT-10 ram crew cab, and 1 F350.

With even a smaller stall (2600ish) the torque down low gets multiplied ALOT more. You'd be suprized at the kind of torque a higher stall gets you.
I think my truck runs a lot better with this new converter compared to my old yank 3000 stall. It runs real well without a cam. The only reason why i got this cam im about to put in is because i have such a big stall now... if i still had the yank i would of just gotten a 220 cam or smaller.

My 6.0 now easily holds speed up hills and even accelerates up hills fairly easily with some throttle input. I'm pretty spoiled now. I will not sacrifice this for top end with the cam choice. The guy who developed the TR224 cam has started his own company now and has a 222/226 .597/.598 cam I'm seriously looking at. He claims it's a good improvement over the TR224. I'm just not sure if I want to push the PAC 1218 springs with that much lift.

Yeah, that is one area where I feel sorry for you ls-based guys. I know dad's 5.3 with 3.42's shifts out of OD easy going up hills. My 5.7vortec will lug itself up a pretty steep hill at 1500rpms doing 55 and gain speed in OD with the A/C on. Low end torque on the sbc's is a lot better than the ls based stuff, but ya'll got the sick mid-range to top end power.
