2000 GMC Sierra front diff. ?'s
Getting ready to start my build on my 2000 GMC Sierra SBSC 4WD.
The build is ideally going to be turbo'd, stock internals, cammed, 4L80E swap, Ford 9". Power goal is between 700-800whp.
My concern is the front differential. Being that it is a 4WD I would like to lauch in 4-high whether I'm at street or strip. I know the factory 10 bolt rears are junk, I've already broke one of those on STOCK power , I just didn't know if the front diff's shared the same lack of quality?
Will the front diff handle 800whp?
If not, Can I do a 3/4ton front diff swap?
or should I do a straight front axel swap and get rid of the Independent all together?
Anyone know of anybody on the forums running a boosted 4WD 1/2 ton making close to 700whp that might be able to give me a little insight?
Any insight/help you can give I greatly appreciate!
Thanks
Here's a couple pics of it now.
Will post more build pics later

Do a little bit more reading on here and you'll find your info. There are many people who are running 600-800rwhp through the front diff, modded or not. Maybe they will also see this thread.
I believe a lot of it is limiting straps and well maintained parts to begin with.

/\ Please explain your theory?
I also found this thread on here as well just in case anyone else has a similar question about 4WD launches,

I understand 4wd trucks have 2 differentials....
My original question was if I were to launch in 4-high would the stock front diff be able to handle 800whp
I thought you were going to tell me some voodoo secret about running 2 front diffs... I was confused after reading it.
I got it now now though....
The Parish turbo truck is running a stock front diff. through 1011whp 1033wtrq

I have no probs with mine and use 4 hi all the time.
Now with street tires i spin the front tire, so there is a " point of give"
But if you have 4 slicks, that would put more strain on the front diff,
Keep the CV angles flat and you'll be fine.
But each truck has to find its own limits/ parts that will fail.
And not bieng rude but i dont see you making 700-800 wheel horse power on stock internals, your rods wont take it.
700-800 flywheel is no prob but close to the limit of stock internals. Every combo is different though , just throwing out there for ya so you can adjust your build if you want.
And i wouldnt say the stock 10 bolts are junk, i have broke my factory locker, but the rear end is going strong with over 185,000 on it and now all the power i send to it
