Default New Guy from Iowa

Just found the site mentioned in the Reader's Rides section of Truckin' magazine Jan. 2010. I'm from the Iowa City area in Eastern Iowa. I have a 99 Silverado 1500 2wd project truck and a 99 Suburban 4wd daily driver.

Any other site members from Iowa?

George

Welcome. Do a lot of reading and you'll learn a lot about what these trucks can do.

I know there is a lot of power in the 5.3 waiting to be released. I love a lopey idle and want to do a cam swap along with all the other necessary items. Prior to this site I haven't found the info I wanted - I'm sure I'm in the right place now.

Tyler - your Silverado sounds awesome - how much work was it to do the intake swap? That sounds like a killer set-up. We do not have any emission testing in Iowa so anything goes.

85-bowtie - cool name. Back in the day my friends called me Bowtie Boy because I was such a Chevy freak......nothing has changed!

We are quite a ways apart from each other in this fine state. How is the truck scene where you are? Theres nothing much here - plenty of hot rods though.

I wouldn't really say there's a truck scene at all around here My 05 2500HD is more custom than most we have around here and all it has is some debadging, colormatching, and is leveled. There are some old hot rods, but they are still few and far between. My 85 will be the one of the most custom if not the most of the trucks. Lowered, custom interior, cowl hood, 20's, and soon to have a cammed vortec 454.
