Default New From Tennessee

I've been looking for a performance oriented truck forum. I thought I'd give this one a try. My name is Kevin and I live about 50 miles SW of Nashville, TN. I'm a Mopar guy. I own a 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T that I bought brand new and a 1980 Dodge D150 with a 440 swap.

HOWDY NEIGHBOR, your 80 rocks!

Somewhere around here, there is a green SS/T that has a factory aluminum Viper V10 in it. It came that way from the factory, and to my knowledge it is 1 of 1 produced.

Long story behind it, but the break down is the guy that ordered it, owned the business that produced all the plastics for Dodge. My Dad was friends with the owner, and we drove the truck from his house to Nashville to have a tow kit installed so it could be pulled behind his motor home. Last time I saw it, it was behind the motor home on it's way to be hidden from the guy's wife during the divorce.

Thanks! I'm not planning anything for the 1998 SS/T. It's cheaper and easier to make power with an old school big block and that is why I have the 1980 D150. If I can get a car and a few things sold, I'm going to build a 400 based stroker for the D150. I have a 400 block, 440 crank, a nice cam, and a few other odds and ends. Of course, this will require a 727 Torqueflite rebuild and a stronger rearend. All it takes is money, right?

If you ever spot the truck, I sure would love to see it. I remember wishing I could order the Viper V10 in my truck. I think they would have been cooler than the SRT-10 trucks.

I heard rumor that the wife ended up with it in the divorce and sold it. I also heard that he had someone buy it for him and just registered it in a different name so she wouldn't find out.

At that time, there was no exterior changes that would have given it away. It even had super quiet exhaust on it.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the 1980. I decided to buy one that is cosmetically finished so I don't have to spend valuable family time building a truck. I totally restored a car once and I won't do it again. I bought the truck pretty much like you see it except I lowered it and put the slot wheels on it. I'm going to repaint the dash and fix a few other minor issues in the interior. When I get a car sold, I'm going to build a 451 (400 block/440 crank) and beef up the Torqueflite.

Here are a few more pics:
