Anyone dare to run nitrous with 87 octane?
Hey everyone, I'm new to this site, but I've run nitrous on a mustang before. Has anyone run nitrous with 87 octane? I want to know if its possible with enough timing retard. I've only used 91 octane on my mustang, but my truck is my daily driver. I drive about 30k miles a year, so I don't really want to pay for 91 all the time. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

no offense i dont run 87 octane on air
ok your truck hold 25 gallons its 20cent a gallon more if that so thats 5 bucks a tank
ok now look at my side
everyone buys 87 so that means if its low u are pumpin of the bottom of reserves where theres dirt which still makes it into your fuel system
also new is pumped in more often stirring up more dirt
no1 except people with old chevys that have to lol and people who care alot about there fuel system use the 93 so less dirt less stirrin up junk in the resovoirs
fuel filters injectors all that **** gets expensive so use 93 or 91 please
i mean if u are gonna spray the truck does that 5 dolors a tank really hurt u??

Thanks for all the replies. As far as the the cost goes, its not much more to run 91, I can see switching to 91. Regarding knock on tuned engines, I have the hypertech and it would knock on the 87 octane tune. I used a Gtech and compared 1/4 mile times and it surprisingly ran quicker on the stock tune with 87. With the 92 octane tune it ran quicker with the hypertech over stock; but what I use the hypertech for is gear and tire correction. I figure I'll get way more out of the nitrous.
Now with the timing tuner from HSW, It looks like I can run a tune on N/A, then use its retard function to retard for the nitrous when its activated? What timing do you guys like to run with 92 octane, NGK, TR6's, and a 100 wet shot? Thanks in advance.
