Default LQ9 thoughts on shot?

So guys Im going to the track sunday to take a shot at some mid low 12s. Truck is 07 ccsb 4x4 dropped on 295/45/20 tires and weighs 4900lbs without my 200lb butt in it. Truck was tuned on 91 octane to the beat of 373whp for a dyno number and then timing was backed off 2 degrees for a lil breathing room on street. I put a nx proton kit on the truck this week and its been running pretty good on a 100 shot for street play, but its definitely not feeling like a low 12 second truck. Im wanting to rock a 150-200 shot for just a few passes this sunday. Im planning on running Sunoco 110 race fuel because I have no way to pull timing quickly and just for peace of mind. My tune is pretty mild so I figured with the race fuel I could get away squeezing a 150 shot but Im worried about anything more. Just wanted to pick your guys brain and see what your thoughts are. Afrs are in the mid low 12s on the 100 shot and planned on leaving it close to there for the bigger shot. I have a wideband in the truck so I keep a watchful eye on it. Anyways let me know your guys thoughts and thanks for your input. Hopefully Ill have some low 12 second slips to post up sunday night. Man would a 11.99 be cool. LOL

The race fuel will help, but you need to remove some timing if you are gonna do a 150 shot. I believe you can run some kind of resistor to reduce timing. Its a simple setup if I can remember. I will look it up.

So you don't think running my 91 pump gas map on race fuel will be enough to run a 150 shot? Shoot Im running a 100 shot now on 91 fule and it runs solid. We have temps of around 45-60 degrees right now and it feels and sounds good. No knock that I can hear.

You will be treading a thin line. It works for some and doesn't for others. Also you won't likely hear any knock. I would do the iat sensor trick to pull some timing the cooler temps and good fuel will help as well. Safe is a very unusual word to have true in the race world.

Well im gonna go for it. Temps tomorrow are gonna be around 50 and Im only gonna make two passes. One on a 125 shot and one on a 150 shot. Thinking 12.4 on a 125 shot and 12.2 on a 150 shot. I guess we will see. LOL

Where are you coming up with this demand? He already pulled 2 degrees off a legitimate tune for safety. Then he is adding race fuel . It wouldn't hurt to pull another 2 degrees but I certainly say he "needs to". I ran a 100 shot on a mail order tune with race fuel as a safety net and Justin had no concerns and it didn't hurt a thing.

There is no garentee that something won't go wrong but I agree with the OP that you should not have a single problem with your current plans.

We will find out here soon. Heading to the track within the hour. Nice cool temps to start the day around 45 degrees and should peak at 68 today. Time to go fast. Hoping for 12.2@ 110.
