Default Newbie Nitrous?

Sorry guys I'm just getting into the fast truck thing and have a few questions. I've been reading a lot of great info for the past two weeks but still have some basic questions. I have a 03 1500HD CCSB 6.0 72K miles and want to make some more power for the last year or two that I will own this truck. Currently I have an EFI Live tune and CAI is coming soon. Could my stock set up handle a small nitrous shot or should I not think about going in this direction? Thanks for any input.

your engine will hold fine for a small shot, say a 75 shot but the transmission will probably complain.

Welcome to the boards.

Thanks, this is exactly what I'm trying to find out. When you say complain what do you mean? Are you saying a rebuild with upgrades before thinking of nitrous, or just proceed with caution? I'm just trying to grasp what the stock tranny can handle HP wise with 72K miles on it.

Some stock transmissions have held up to abuse and others die behind stock setups. Luck of the draw. A shift kit, servos and good trans cooler would be prudent.

Since you already have an 80e tranny I think you can easily hold a 125 wet shot.

You could also set your window switch up so that you don't spray through the shifts. That will add some longevity to your trans. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I put a HSW wet kit pilled with a 100 shot and an msd window switch on basically the same truck you have and it dropped 1.2 seconds off of its NA times...... this without a tune

This was one heavy *** truck......tool boxes and grille guard
