Default Nitrous Mother Bottle Price/Pound

I'm about to try my Nitrous kit for the first time ever. I need to fill my bottle and I'm looking at different options. I want to fill my own using the freeze the small bottle method, so I got a price from the local welding supply for a T size bottle (75 pounds) for $283. That's $3.77/pound. Seems high to me. Should I shop around or is this the current going rate?
The other option is to have the local foreign car garage fill my bottle for $5/pound. I called them last week and they may not continue to sell nitrous (not much money in filling bottles).

Place i was getting it around here was almost 5 a pound, they where the only place to get it regularly so everyone had to pay the price. You might check around, you would think you could get a better price since your buying in bulk.

I pay 149 plus delivery charge for a 50lb bottle, and fill my 2 10lb bottles by freezing them and using an electric blanket to warm up the mother bottle when it is cold up here

Oh yeah! Epping is fantastic! I ran my truck there last fall for the first time. I have been painting my truck all winter and I nearly have it ready to race again. Planning to go June 18th. I want to run with my nitrous kit for the first time that night. I didn't use any nitrous last fall and ran 13.8@100. What will a 100 shot do for my time?

mid to high 12s probably. generall rule of thumb is 100 shot = 1 second. that is until you start going faster, then you have to add more power to drop the same amount of time

I pay 3.75-4.00 a pound here in DFW. In Houston the cheapest was 4.25 but normal was 4.50-5.

I priced a big 50lb bottle at $110 for every new bottle they bring or exchange with $150 deposit on the bottle.
