nitrous tune question

nitrous tune question
Ok, I have the ecsb 4.8 with 3.42s. The truck runs 15.1 at 90mph in full street trim. I have a dual tune from wheatley 89/93 with intake and exhaust and longtubes. How much power would I loose in everyday driving running a nitrous tune as compared to the current tune. Would it even be noticable. Being I have the 4.8 which is a little low on power, would running a 75-100 shot really put a big hurt on the 4L60. I know these are a time bomb anyway, but with the nitrous putting it up there with a bolt on
5.3s power, what kind of time would I be looking at before . I only have the line pressure bumped up now, been wanting to do the servo but never got around to it. The truck has 116,000 miles on it. I am only wanting to go low 14s for now, would a smaller shot get me there, like a 50 shot. Thanks in advance.

Most tuners who do nitrous tunes run them rich to be on the safe side, timing will be changed some as well so running a nitrous tune N/A will probably hurt your everyday driving. Your gonna also have to run a 1 or 2 colder stage spark plug. If at all possible get a wideband A/F installed if you have not so you can dial in each tune and really keep 2 tunes, one for N/A and one for Nitrous

as far as the trans goes mine is still holding very good and i been running a 125 shot on stock from the start to finish line all i got done for that is the biggest trans cooler and vette servo and the 125 shot took me too a 13.9 from a 16.1 so a 75 too 100 should get u low 14's if not a lil quicker

i want to say my 4.8 lost about 8-10 rwhp with a nitrous tune, but way better IMO than losing the engine over a few hp.
just make sure the timing is a little lower, and the fuel is a little richer, and spray it. i dropped over a second on a 100 dry with my 4.8.
i also have 50K VERY hard miles on my tranny, havent sprayed the new motor a lot, but i beat on that 4.8 HARD. it still feels like the first day i got it! knock on wood.
a big tranny cooler is number one, and the tuning is right up there. good luck with it.

Thanks Charlie for responding, I wouldnt have been able to answer that being I never asked that question to you. All I know is this truck has never ran this good or this hard. I am impressed that a 4.8 with crappy 3.42s and an open diff in an ecsb could be this close to 14s. With some weight reduction, I am there. Only mods are your tune, the longtubes, K&N intake, and exhaust. This is full street weight with 20s on the front and I'm at 15.1@90mph. I plan on going in the next couple weeks, should get high 14s(I hope).

On my stock tune with longtubes, ory, 3.73's and drag radials, I ran a 14.09 @ 102. Sprayed at 2250 rpm to 5900. I have hptuners now, stock timing scanned at 21-22* timing at wot. With the nitrous on, saw no knock retard. I just started tuning, so no nitrous scans with the new tune, nor any tracktimes. I have the timing tuner so I'll be able to retard when on the nitrous. You might want to look into a product like that or any of the others available, then you can run your N/A tune, then retard for the nitrous.
