Nitrous is not flamible, your cats aren't going to ignite and fuel thats what they are there for to begin with. the Idea would work fine. The only problem it might cause would be cooling the cats making them enefficent for a few seconds. Why do people think that nitrous is so flamable? It allows more fuel to be put in the cylinder and thats all. When an intake blows off its because of fuel puddling in the intake. The fuel explodes not the spray!!!

When nitrous is heated to about 570ish*F, the oxygen and nitrogen molecules seperate, and as you know oxygen is flammable. Your cats usually get heated up to about 500*F, so its not the best of ideas.. If your a daredevil and want to take the risk, by all means, go right ahead..

Where are you gonna get a spark to ignite the flame? Cats are designed to burn unburned fuel anyway, if you spayed them it would cool them and they would not beable to burn excess fuel for a split sec.

You dont need a spark to ignite oxygen. Oxygen has a flashpoint of somewhere near 300*F by itself.. So heat alone will ignite it.. Nitrous displaces air, so whatever bit of oxygen that the cats have in it to burn off excessive fuel will be overtaken by nitrous, and no, the cat will not cool off in time before a flame front starts. It takes much longer to cool a solid than it does a gas..

I don't want to disagree, But oxygen itself with out a fuel is not flamable. If you don't believe me go to ask.com and ask. If oxygens flash point was at about 300 degrees you would blow up your oven everytime you baked cookies.
The answer to this question really depends on exactly what we mean by the
words we use, and especially by the term 'burning'.
A chemist usually takes 'burning' to mean a self-sustaining reaction
between two substances, an oxidant and a fuel, in which a lot of heat
energy is given out. It is usually said that the fuel 'burns' and that the
oxidant 'supports combustion'.
Oxygen takes part in a lot of these reactions, but always as the oxidant,
never the fuel. So a chemist would normally say that oxygen supports
combustion, but that it does not burn.

Oxygen is not flamable but it will greatly increase the intensity of the flame. So if there is some burning in the cats the purge would make it worse and possibly, if done often enough, cause them to break down. If done after the cat, or if no cat, some wicked flames might shoot out the tail pipe.

agreed, in a welding shop using an oxy-acetlyene cutting torch, the acetylene is the fuel and you apply the oxygen, green hose, non-flammible to direct the flame and intesify it. oxygen itself isnt flammable without a seperate fuel. like with a candle too, without oxygen it dies out but if the oxygen was in itself flammable, everytime someone lit a match, 7% of our atmosphere would ignite.
