got anything else done- (P.S. borla's sound good on the 4.3L) i wouldnt recommend anything above 2.5" exhaust but i would recommend a straight through muffler like a borla- some people go 3" exhaust but that just seems like over kill to me on a 4.3L- try some march underdrive pullies, dual 12" electric fans or LS1 fans, and new y-pipe and exhaust- i think you might have a bit of a traction issue then but it will help alot as well as something about your fuel pump

why do some people buy a 4.3 and spend thousands of dollars when they could have bought a V8.dont take this the wrong way, im not trying 2 put anyone down.i used 2 have a 4.3 and they're great engines but nothing compare my 5.3(at least mine wasnt).

Maybe because the 4.3 trucks are usually so much less expensive than teh V8's, usually a 4.3 truck isnt optioned nearly as expensivley as a 5.3 truck.

Can you even get a bare bones 5.3L regcab shorty work truck with a rubber floor??
Its not always just the extra $1400 to get the big V8, but the $1000's of dollars of extra's you have to get to get a truck with the.

My 1997 was $29,000CAN on the sticker with the Vortec 350, my GF's 1997 Vortec 4.3 W/T had a sticker of $17,000CAN.. both trucks had an open 3.08 rear and auto trans.

Another reason is that some people inherit trucks from family members, and some families arent into the V8 trucks, they want economy. I have seen MANY MANY sons or daughters get Dads or Gramps truck for dirt cheap they usually look awesome and in good mecjhanical shape, but often dont hav eteh 350 or 5.3 engine or even a 305, 4.8. Too good of a deal not to buy, so the inevitable engine swap is in the cards.

I personally wouldnot buy a V6 fullsize truck, or a manual trans fullsize truck(1/2 ton), they arent usually worth much, and the V8's are so much easier to sell. I have yet to see a Vortec 350 rcsb truck in the Truck Trader when I look.

My 1st truck was Dads 1984 Sierra with a 4.1 I-6, I got it for $1100CAn with 126,000kms out came the 250 and in went the TPI 305 roller engine with headers and Weind intake. Much better.

Make sure to get the dyno graphs and air/fuel graphs. I am interested in seeing them
