yeah, the beauty of a relay is you can use a small wire to "trigger" the relay. If you lose the relay then your switch (switches) need to be rated at the amperage of the circuit. It seems complicated but it is not. Think of the relay like a light switch on the wall that is controlled by a smaller voltage circuit.

I tested this on two different relays, one a five pin the other a four.
Pin 30- 12v hot
pin85-wire going to switches
pin86-grounded
pin87- goes to solenoids
Pin 30 has power
pin 85 no power
pin 86 no power
pin 87 power
turn on the arm switch
pin 30 has power
pin85 no pwer
pin86 no power
pin 87 no power
on the five pin, same results but the power goes on and off on pin87a

Pin 30 must have 12v
pin 87 must go to your solenoids, (solenoid then must be grounded)
Pin 85 must have a 12v source going first to your activation switch , then to your push button switch, then to 85.
Pin 86 has to be grounded
This is all that needs to be done, on either the 4 pin or 5 pin relays, the difference between the 2 is very simple on the 4 pin 87a is not accessible, and on the 5 it is.
Also look at my relay drawing above, you will notice that 30 goes to 87a, this is because that is the non energized state. Then when you energize the coil between 85 and 86 the pole from 30 to 87a switches to 30 to 87.

Ah, maybe this is it, I have a wire coming from pin 85 to the push button, then to the arm switch then ground. Looks like thats what i had backwards.

You need to have your activation switch and push button before pin 85, the activation switch will give power to the push button, the push button will give power to the coil in the relay, which will cause the pole in the relay to go from 87a to 87 and NITROUS!!!!!

About time haha...i was running out of ways to describe the function of the relay, I understand them really well. (well 4 and 5 prong relay) There are more confusing ones. But when i was going to school i remember 2 weeks that were dedicated to just standard bosch style relays.
