Oh man, that is too freaking cool. That ball court is the origin of football Soccer and losers were executed iirc. I love ancient archetecture. Added to my long list of places to visit.

Very cool place indeed! Looks like you had an awesome vacation with your wife! Hey bill, the sport that took place in the ball court, weren't they only allowed to use their elbow's to score? Not sure why but when I read about that sport years ago I always remembered them having to knock it in using their elbows, could be wrong...maybe I should google it!!

we were told on our tour that they could only use hips and knees and the games would last days... Also they have not figured out whether one of the losers or winners died at the end... strange huh, they considered dying an honor...

Yeah that sounds familiar, I just remember something about them not being able to use their hands and having to use something else.
So come on Corey, I know there's more pictures laying around in your computer...spit em out!! How long were you down there for?

they have not verified that.... The only records they have for that entire culture are 3 books, which are owned by european countries (nice huh?). The rest were all burned by the spanish... they can really only go off of the carvings on the walls, which half are gone. That is why so little is known about them...

So how about traveling in Mexico? I hear there's a lot of goings on along the border these days. No added security or?

Well where we were at there was alot of miltary and police check points on the roads throughout our traveling experience... On the road from Cancuun to Tulum there was probably 5-6 check points with alot of armed guys. Other than the roads themselves no miltary presence was seen. however our resort did have alot of security walking around, which had us very curious.... We were told that the Yucatan area is a relatively low crime rate...
