Thanks guys, been having lots of fun with it. Tentative plans for this winter are a 14 bolt rear from a 3/4 ton. Haven't done a bit of research on anything yet but I need something before it breaks.

I took the truck on a highway cruise last weekend to Duluth. 2hrs of 70mph, I love how easy turbo cars cruise. Smoked a 2010+ Challenger R/T 3 times, wasn't even a contest. 11.7mpg on E85. I've been between that and 10mpg all summer. Calculates out to an average of 23 cents/mile on my gas tracker app.

I picked up my new rear end the other day. Got a 6 lug, 14 bolt with 3.42s from a 1988 1500HD. Brought it over to my friend's house and tore it down and checked everything out.

I got all the parts ordered yesterday to get it done. Went with an Eaton Truetrac carrier. Then just all new brakes, bearings, etc. It's going to be brand new.Looking forward to slicks on it this summer.



We fought the drums for a while, you could tell this thing had been sitting. Finally decided to cut them off with the plasma.

Very nice man. Does this rear end have the same axle flange as the 8.5" 10 bolts? Just wondering if you could run your stock brakes on this rear

You know, I didn't even look into the brakes that far. I'm just going to run the 14b brakes. From some other threads I was checking out, I think the flange may be the same but it is further in from the wheel mount surface. The width of the 14b shoes are 2.75" so it's a deep drum. In the other threads, guys re-used their disc brakes by spacing the calipers out a few inches.

Exactly....the flange on there fits the 10b backing plate perfectly, its just clocked 45 degrees different, so the calipers are either at the top or the bottom if you just space them out.
