Caltracs hangers WTF?
Thanks fellas...
So I decided to install the Caltracs. I also bought their hangers since my DJM hangers won’t work with the Caltracs due to DJMs hanger supports are welded below the leaf spring mount and not above it.
The Caltracs hangers look like they are going to raise the front leaf spring mount up by 1”-1.5” which I’m not willing to do. On top of that, the Caltracs hangers look like they weren’t even designed for our truck. Have any of you ran the Caltracs hangers? Did you mount them like this?
I’m debating on order Belltech 2” hangers to keep my rear drop the way it is and they also mount flush on the frame rail.

Is that the correct side? Looks like it would fit better on the DS, but also It doesnt look like the bolt holes would line up Either on the other side but tough to tell from pics. ive never heard of caltrac selling truck specific hangers fwiw tho

Yea that’s the only side it will go on. The holes are completely off on the driver side. I ordered these over the phone straight from them.

Thanks guys, no videos yet. I’m usually by myself when driving this thing. Boost is up to about 13-14 psi. Little more tuning to reach 20psi.
I recently swapped the qa1’s and 1100 eibach springs for Viking dual adjustable and some 1200 eibach coils and that made the world of difference. It rides sooo much better. I’m still playing with shock settings but this truck is handling damn good. I also installed a DJM rear sway bar along with the Caltracs traction bars. I got lazy and during that time and didn’t clean or paint anything underneath lol.
The brand new NB electronics 200 amp alternator melted the positive stud clear off. This may have been caused by my lack of additional grounds early in the start up phase but who knows. I threw on the original oem 135k mile one and charges more than ever before with the 200 amp.
Im honestly not happy with how the exhaust has sounded from the first time I drove it after the build. The 4” turbo back through a 12” Dynomax race bullet sounds amazing at idle but like a gargling 5.3 with the muffler chipped off once it’s moving. I have to say, at wot it sounds crazy loud(in a good way). But I’m in Cali and stress getting pulled over, getting the hood popped and sent to the chp referee. Soo, I began the research of the best sounding/flowing muffler for A turbo LS application. It’s difficult because there isn’t a lot of videos out there and if they are, they are **** quality. Mostly supercharged with long tubes which isn’t the reference I’m looking for.
Borla’s R&D facility happens to be right down the street so I walked in for the first time one day and spent hours talking to their sales reps and engineers along with a nice tour of the facilities. They talked me into running their Borla XR1 multicore muffler (not cheap) 4” in/out 5.5”x8.5”x23”. I’m going to weld this one in with a 4” QTP electric cutout in front of it. Hopefully I get some free time this weekend to get the exhaust knocked out and there definitely will be video clips of the sound.
