Default 1963 Chevy C10 - 418ci LS swap

Ok.. Got some time to add some historic pictures and tell a little story.

The original intention on this build was to have a nice running LS powered 63 pick up. I was going to use it to tow my Camaro "the race car" This is what the build originally looked like:

1963 Chevy C10 unknown mileage

Motor
1997 LS1 block
Stock Crank
3.905 Diamond pistons
Eagle Rods
Stock LS6 heads with Patriot Gold Springs
Comp XER 223/228 .585/.588 108/108 (for some reason the 223 lobe does not exist any more, was 273@.006 - 223@.050 - 147@.200 with .585 lift)
LS6 intake
Home Ported TB
2 stage N20
30lb SVO's

Exhaust
Edelbrock 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" HVMC headers
3" X-pipe
Warlock mufflers with dual electric cut outs
Dual 2.5" in single 3" out hooker aeromax muffler

Trans
1991/92 4L80E
Stock 4L80E flexplate
Stock verter
Upgraded internal wiring harness on order (required to use with newer style connector on harness)
New PWM solenoid on order
New Manifold Pressure sensor on order (needed with new harness due to temp sensor being integrated)
28” geenie shifter with skull shift ****

Fuel system
16ga fuel cell under rear of bed
-8 split to two -6 lines
Dual Walbro 255's
Dual -6 back in to single -8
Aeromotive A1000 regulator
-6 return line
Speed inc Fuel rails

Rear
8.5" GM Out of a 1967-72 P/U
New posi unit (came in truck already)
3.73 Gears
275/50/15 BFG DR's

Suspension/brakes
Front disks out of a 1967-72 P/U

The idea was a 14 second truck on motor and a 12.50 on the direct port N20 kit.

While on my honeymoon I saw that a buddy was selling his ported heads and Trex combo that recently went 10.7x in his 4th gen. Not being able to pass the deal up, I bought it.

After playing with this combo for a couple years, changing things around, I managed to get it to go 11.4x on motor and 10.7x on a small hit of N20.

Here are a couple videos:

Knowing this was no longer a tow rig, and getting a solid offer for my other 347ci motor, I built a new 418 ci motor.

LS3 block to 4.083
4.00" Callies crank
Weisco Pistons
72cc AFR 225 heads I had for a different project
Custom 245/260 .646/.629
Super Vic with Dominator TB

This moved my dyno sheet from 449rwhp/402ftls (347ci motor) to 521rwhp/469ftlbs (new 418ci motor).

Right after this, I was contacted as someone wanted my old truck motor for a sand drag blazer, which is now taking mostly first places. With this money, I ditched the stock 4L80E and picked up a fully built manual valve body powerglide and matching 5,200 rpm converter.

Knowing I was already touching the cage limits with the old 347ci motor, I thought it would be best to get a cage done. This is where things are at today.

Backhalfing it with 1 5/8" .083 CM took 130+ lbs out of the truck. That should more than make up for the cage.

A buddy also mentioned he was looking for a set of AFR heads this last week. We made a deal on my 225's and now I am in talks with Tony Mamo about a nice new set of 245's. This might also be the time to go solid roller.

I am hoping to go 10.5x NA with the truck in the near future. Hopefully I can get both stages working and go somewhere in the 9's as well. Only time will tell.

It was cutting 1.60x consistantly and did a couple 1.59's. Those were all on motor, no n20.

Nice build. But why such a big split in duration with the AFR's? Tony recommended a single pattern cam for 230 V2's on my 408.

N20 418ci motor making peak power at 7,000rpm. Needed so much overlap for the rpm. Also wanted to open the exhaust valve early enough to help get the burnt gases out.

Why do you have dual walbros. You have one more then you need for your set up unless you have plans for large amounts of nitrous.
