It's a beefy part for sure. Just never heard of them.

I dreamof a day where I get more than 30mins to an hour to work on this thing. Until then, y'all get tiny little updates. Although this time I have questions.

How the heck does the Ford extended shock bracket mount and where does it go? From the searching I've done I've narrowed it down to the frame rail in front of the cab. Seems like the best spot for me is right on the bump of the shock mount which of course is the hardest spot which would be in line with the rest of this build.

Oh ya, pulled the "new" shock off. Thing is shot. Never moved when I pulled it off.

This is how it looked when I pulled it off:

This is how it looked after I pulled it down:

You'll also notice how well it fit into the upper shock mount. I can't wait to drive this thing once this is all done.

Oh
ya. **** rivets.

So. Many. Washers. So. Much. Fuckery. New springs are on up front though. Hopefully get the rears done this weekend.

Old vs new springs

Well today was a bust. Got the old stuff easily and then ran into problems. Rear shackle hanger is bent so had to bend that back. Spring perches weren't welded on straight. The new u-bolts I got weren't bent right so had to order replacements. Realized I installed a set of bushings on the wrong springs so ordered replacements instead of tearing the front end apart. In the end I got almost nothing accomplished today and am now at a standstill. Can't wait to see what surprises the other side holds for me.

Hate to hear it man. Getting so far Into a project and continually finding **** sucks. The end result is going to be so much better tho.

I'd be lying if I said I was surprised but it's still frustrating. Oh well. In the end it'll all be worth it and I'll know it was done right with the correct parts.

That thumb scrape is the reason I wear thick welding gloves anytime I wield a breaker bar, pry bar or hammer something.
