It's still got 2 other bolts right? Send it. It was holding for how long until you noticed it anyway?
you might need to shim that ear when you get a new box to keep everything on plane together. I think the ear sat off the frame and the bolt sucked it in, and something had to give
sorry man 😞

This project just got a whole lot bigger. Just bought a frame//body//drivetrain with a much straighter and rust free tub on it. Going to start cutting the existing body up and scrap it and then swap the new body onto my existing frame and running gear. Or I might go and swap the axles and suspension from my current truck over to the new one. New one comes with a 350//700r4//np208 already installed. I’m very tempted to just swap my axles and suspension, my 208 transfer case (mines got the sye installed), and drop in my new 383 and bolt it up to the existing 700r4. Be a lot easier and cheaper than trying to get the spare 4l80e and converter built and installed at the moment.

I've been thinking long and hard lately about the direction of this project. I had originally bought the truck as something to restore and rebuild with my kids. Had some fun crawling with it and upgrading it. But the body on it is crap and not worth saving and with no doors and top it's not really fun to drive but a month or two out of the year and that's not what I wanted out of this thing. I want to drive it and enjoy it.
It's definitely an interesting twist but I'm back to being excited about working on it.

Correct. Paid $1000 for this one and I'll be able to part out the stuff on it I don't need (engine and transfer case) along with selling the old engine from mine and scrapping the body and make that up. Also going to be selling the frame from my old one as well. There's a total of 24 bolts to pull the entire suspension and axles from the old truck and it's all a direct bolt in on the new one (same year). Lot of work still but it doesn't get any easier than that.
