Water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing ordered. Going to pick them up from the parts store this afternoon along with a power steering pump pulley puller so I can get that swapped on to my PSC pump. Doubt I get anything done this weekend since it’s Mother’s Day but you never know.

Well damn. Got some time and started assembling stuff. Went to check the power steering bracket on my PSC pump and wouldn’t you know it, dang line is in the way and won’t let the serpentine bracket bolt up. Looks like GM changed pump design just enough between 1985 and 1990 that my brand new pump won’t work on my serpentine setup.

On my 99 Silverado when it still had the 4.3 I removed that little reinforcement bracket. I can't recall why, and it was a long time ago when I changed the PS pump maybe? I think I ran it like that from maybe 175k miles to 260k miles when I pulled the 4.3. That photo jogged my memory because I was cleaning out my garage recently and came across that little bracket.
Maybe you can cut the bracket and re-weld a kink from extra steel stock to clear the tube? Or just cut it off so you only use one stud?

I’m a ways away before attempting to start this thing. I had forgotten that I had cut all the starter wires when I yanked the old motor out so I’ve gotta rewire that whole circuit. Wiring is my last major obstacle to really getting this thing ready to run. That and money.
