Way over thought this. Just going to tap those two wires into the pink ignition wire and call it good. They are just triggers.

Started wiring some things up. Relay for the fuel pump. Distribution block for batt power. Got another block for grounds that I haven’t done yet.

Damn I hate wiring. Got the firewall ground attached to the head. Ran a ground from the pulley brackets to the frame using an alternator bolt. Need to find a smaller head bolt for the actual ground on the alternator. Ordered up a bunch of 12/14ga wire to repair the factory harness that’s been damaged. Need to order up so 6ga for the alt to battery. Going to run a cable from body to frame at the rear of the truck. All 0ga. Still need to land a couple of grounds for the wiring harness and a couple of switched 12’s and that will be all done. Like done to where I can turn the key and see it light up and dial in the timing and load the tune done.

Ordered a bunch of little stuff today. New oil dipstick, fuel filler hose, vent hose, PCV and hose, throttle return spring, alternator connector adapter, fuel filler cap, oil filter. So much little crap. Need to order all the fluids, bolts for shocks, bushings for shocks, steering box, extended shock mounts, firewall grommets, air cleaner assembly, stupid crap that adds up.

Anyone around central Texas want to do a wrench fest soon? So much little crap.

First time in years this truck has had 12v running through it. Headlights work, blinkers work, starter kicks. Dash lights don’t work, no interior buzzer, there’s no lights inside for the blinkers but the relay clicks. The taillights don’t come on with the headlights but the blinker works. One taillight doesn’t blink or come on at all.

The excitement coursing through me is almost overwhelming and of course the wire and I are going on vacation on Sunday and won’t be back until Wednesday and we’ve got kid things all day tomorrow.

So close to trying to start it.

And that’s where I finished for the day. Need to fill fluids, prime oil, set distributor and timing, fuel filler hose, PCV hose, MAP sensor hose, install O2 sensor, install plugs and plug wires, load tune, add fuel, test for fuel leaks, and then I guess turn the key and see what happens with a motor that was built two years ago that’s being run on a technology I’ve never messed with.

Needed this win. Been down on this project for a long time. Now for some beers and burgers and a nice vacation.

Got 60psi of oil pressure with a drill. Also need another qt of oil. 7qts and the dipstick is dry after priming even though it was over full before hand. Supposed to head out camping tomorrow but I’m gonna try and set the timing on the Holley tomorrow and load the tune. ****’s getting real now.
