Well, I didn't get much done on my truck. I never crawled under it. I ended up visiting with family instead, which is fine. I did sneak out there later in the evening and got my front end put back together.

A while back I took the front bumper off and apart.




I cleaned it really well and painted it black with Plastidip. Time will tell if it hold up or not. I don't think it will, but for now, it looks pretty cool.



I also replaced the grill with a billet piece, painted in Plastidip. I ended up breaking the Chevy bowtie when I removed it, so I'll have to try and find a new one.

Just buy a billet one. There only like $35 and you can get it in black. The OEM one from GM is like $50

All Sales Mfg. part number 96143K is for 99-02 Plain Black

Not sure if any of our vendors sell it but put that number in Ebay and you will see what I mean.

I bought the correct one for my 06 grille and it looks clean. I am glad I didn't waist my time looking for a used one to paint.

I found a 4L80E dustcover at my local wrecking yard. It was pretty dirty so I cleaned it up a bit.



Stock 4L60E torque converter bolts on the left 4L80E torque converter bolts on the right. I'm lucky I had the 80E torque converter bolts. The 60E bolts are too long for the Yank torque converter.



The Yank torque converter says "After transmission is bolted up check that the converter will pull away from the flywheel at lease 3/32" but no more than 3/16"."

Mine was off by about 1/16" so I measured to make sure all the washers were the same width. .05 puts me in the ballpark.



Here we are, all shimmed up.



Oh and I got my shiny black billet Chevy symbol installed.

Well, I finally got to work on the truck a little bit more. I've been busy with the holidays and building built-in cabinets and an entertainment center.

So first up, my drivelines are done. I had 1 and 11/16 inch removed from the rear shaft, and the front shaft, ironically, was the right length. I also had them balance both shafts and replace all four u-joints.

They came back painted, I wasn't expecting that.



It turns out that the dipstick tube from the 1999 suburban I took the 4L80E from won't work in my 2000 Silverado. It hits the firewall. So I ordered the correct one.

Here's the difference between the two. The old one is on the right and I had to bend it to get it out.



Also, the correct dipstick tube has compound bends in it.



I know this picture is pretty boring, but that's what's great about it. It actually looks like all that stuff supposed to go there. I got all of the wiring and vent tubes talked away on top of the transmission and transfer case. I got the starter reinstalled. I got the transmission cooler lines hooked up. And finally, the dustcover was installed.



I don't know when I'll be able to work on it again, but I'm getting pretty close to actually trying to drive it again.

I still need to wire up the relay, and teach myself how to use HPtuners so that I can tune the transmission and disable the codes.

BTW, I was poking through your site and wanted to comment on your HI-4 mod page. There is an even easier way to do it on the 99-02's and it involves pulling the D.Side headlight (Just the 2 pins to remove) and ground the yellow low-beam wire to the frame. I just quickly soldered in a wire and ring terminal and used an existing bolt on the core support by the headlight.

It seemed much easier than pulling the fuse panel up and finding the right wire. Anyway, that's about all I can offer

Relay so you can run it on the 60E trans segment?

With HP Tuners, you can now keep the converter locked at zero throttle. Just wire up the speed sensors correctly and email support for a segment swap.
