With HP Tuners, you can now keep the converter locked at zero throttle. Just wire up the speed sensors correctly and email support for a segment swap.
Hmm. What's the better way to go then? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to the segment swap? I'll try searching around on HPtuners forum.

Hey, does this look normal do you guys? I think the driveline guy took out more then I asked him too. There's about 2 inches of shiny in this picture.

The driveline is probably engaged into the transfer case is solid 4 inches, so I'm not too concerned about it.

I also dumped 5 quarts of Dex IV into the transmission. I need an exhaust clamp and some bolts so that I can hook up the exhaust. I also have a few other odds and ends to take care of, but I'm pretty close to actually starting it up again.

I'm going to spend a couple of weeks reading about tuning. So, if I contact HPtuners and have them do a segment swap instead of the relay mod, does that mean that there are no codes to disable?

This'll be the first time that I've tuned anything.

Correct, it is that easy...

With that slip yoke, i would like to see it farther in the tcase, but i doubt it will cause any issues as is. Maybe someone else will chime in with firsthand experience on the matter.

Yeah the driveline kind of irks me. Then again, we are only talking about 1/2 an inch.

Oh, and if I'm going to do a segment swap, I'm going to have to add the ISS wiring.

Is the pic of the yoke while the truck is sitting ont he ground or with it up in the air and the rear suspension hanging. It should be much closer than that if you gave the guy measurements. Mine actually pushes against the dust boot. Mine actually looked too close by the driveshaft shop told me that mine is perfect. You want as much surface contact with the splines as possible.

I get that you want as much contact as possible with the splines but with the truck on the ground, touching the boot would be way to close!

That picture is taken with the truck on jack stands. The jack stands are under the rear axle. So essentially the suspension is compressed.

My driveline is sticking out about 3/4 of an inch farther than it was from the factory. I had them cut off 1" 11/16. It looks as if the cut 1" 15/16 off instead. We'll see if there's any issues in the future.

Well I did some searching around looking for driveline pics. I found this one.

Here's how far my driveshaft sticks out.

Here's how far a fellow members sticks out.

I think I'll be okay.

Now, I've been reading a lot about tuning. I downloaded 2.23 and scanned my truck.

This was before I learned how to take a screenshot. LOL.

I was told that I need to perform a segment swap to control the 80E. I had planned on using a relay and controlling the 80E with my factory 60E tune. Apparently the latest HPTuners will fix the lockup issue folks were having.

Read about it here:

https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...tuners-512674/

So I scanned my stock file and looked to find what my OS was.

I also emailed a copy of that file to myself, stored it in my Dropbox and uploaded to to the HPTuners repository.

Then I searched for the same year truck except a 6.0L and 4L80E. I checked to make sure that it was the same OS.

Now I'm going to email HPTuners both files and ask for a segment swap.

In the meantime, I need to find the ISS plug and wire it into the ECU.

I went junk yard shopping today for an ISS plug. I found one 99-02 Silverado with a 4L80E in it. I found several newer trucks with plugs that would have worked as well, but I figured since I was at the wrecking yard I'd try to make it as correct as possible.

So I went ahead and took apart the harness at the ECU end as well. LOL. Now I have the factory correct color wires at each end.

Now to get my modified tune back from HPTuners, hook up the exhaust and plug in the O2 sensors, then I'll be able to start this thing again.

Any tips on 4L80E transmission tuning?
