I drilled a hole in the center of my fancy 4340.

Here it is all set up. This is how it sits at full droop.

I tried to put my 17" wheels on and found out they wouldn't clear. I figured there would be issues with the McG spindles. I ended up trimming the lower ball joint. It clears, but barely.

After a bit of grinding I mounted everything up. I'm honestly surprised everything clears. Those tires are about an inch and a half taller than the others.

I went for a bit of a drive, did a little off-roading. I was rougher on the suspension than I ever will be. I came back and took a few pictures.

So far so good. I'll put some miles on it and keep checking on the bushings. We'll see if this can take the abuse.

Just a heads up on the lower balljpoint nuts.. I've put McG 2" drop spindles on 2 trucks (eagerly watching this thread before I do #3), they usually come with a low profile nut for the bottom balljoint. I've never mounted 17" wheels back on afterwards so I haven't had a clearance issue but I don't remember any of them protruding out as far as yours does.. Not saying it's wrong, but shaving it off wont hurt anything IMO.

Looks good!! Now go pile a bunch of miles on it so we know if it will last ! LOL

I bought my spindles used so I didn't have any hardware. It hasn't been an issue because I was running 20 inch wheels. (Obviously, lol)

My son and I went for a 40 mile drive today, so far everything seems okay. I'll start driving it more and more on my days off, and put several thousand miles on it. We'll see how they hold up at the end of summer.

Now, it's about time I get to that nitrous kit install. . .

Nice... What size you going to run? Traction shouldn't be an issue since you converted to AWD.

Here's the kit I went with.

PROTON PLUS NITROUS SYSTEM W/ 10LB BOTTLE

You can get a 10% discount from this website. I'm going to go with 100 hp shot.

Hey I just got a set of Atomic's brackets and am researching how to fit out the rest of the system, was wondering which shocks you went with, I'm guessing the ds303? and you're using the 8 inch 1100lb spring, right?

Would you mind measuring your front fender height again with the 17's on there? Do you think its a safe assumption that all other things being equal, my fender height would be 2" higher if I'm using stock spindles, versus the drop spindles you have? Thanks.

What thickness did you cut these bushings to?

I'm going to have to actually install it now. lol

I have put around 300 miles on this coilover setup.

I measured from the ground here and it measures approximately 32 1/4" to the fender lip.

You can see there has been some compression, but everything is still okay. I can't remember what the bushings measured. I want to say 3/4"?
