2000 gmc boost project
I recently purchased a 2000 gmc with 247k miles. It has a 4.8 and 4l60e 4x4. All said and done, I'd like for it to be a 6.0/80e. But Im going to build around the 4.8 for now to see how far i can push it. Going to try to retain driving ability to be able to jump in it and go anywhere needed whether 10 minutes to the grocery store or a 2 hour drive to the beach. Currently justin@blackbear tunes the truck. I got the truck for cheap and put the wheels and tires on it which i had already, a roll pan, and tinted the windows.
My plan for power at the moment is....BOOST IT! I have a 3000 stall converter and the trans doesnt have many miles on it since it was refreshed with alto power pack, transgo kit, and servo. I already added ls1 style fans along with ls1fans wiring kit. A spectre intake that i got for a couple dollars my buddy took off when he procharged his truck, and has true dual exhaust with super 40s
Here is the truck:
It has high miles, rolly windows etc...just your basic work truck model
And here is the first purchase towards the turbo build:
Borg Warner s475. has the bigger 87mm exhaust wheel, t4 flange 1.1 AR
I know its probably a little big for the 4.8, but from a little research it seems like it wont be that bad with a 6.0. I purchased THIS turbo, because 1 i couldnt pass the deal up, and 2, I am only buying parts 1 time. (anyone else have any person experience with this charger)
I also talked to kyle@KbRacing yesterday and today and ordered a log style manifold from him.
Thats all I'v ordered at this point. I am a welder/fabricator and have an exhaust pipe bender so i plan on making the cross over pipe myself along with the downpipe and all intercooler tubing. I would love to have it around 8-10psi on stock bottom end. I plan on adding a cam before the turbo goes on as well, 65lb injectors, and a 044 pump. Any ideas what kind of power this setup is capable of? I was told that if i drove normal and stayed out of boost that normal driving is definately doable until it lights...then it will be a whole nother animal. Thats about all i have to report now. Ill try to get more pics up as parts roll in.. Kyle is on VACA right now so until i get the manifold from him im at a standstill for mocking up the pipes.

I just put a s476 with the 87mm and 1.25 on mine with a 6.0. Takes it a second to build up part throttle boost but its nuts going wot from a 50-60 roll or something. Good luck!

Im excited. As soon as my manifold gets here ill spend a weekend fabbing it all up and getting the kit made....unfortunately my "budget" doesnt permit me to blow money likes its going out of style...so after the kits made it will have to sit there for a few weeks so i can buy injectors and a fuel pump and a duramax exhaust.
