Default 2000 RCSB “DateNight”

Story time…

I’ve had the itch for a quick street truck for a long time. I had a small tire nitrous S10 for several years but the tracks around me started to close down and the truck sat more than I raced. The truck wasn’t a street truck and it was slow by today’s standards (6.50s). Luckily my better half REALLY likes fast trucks. We both like the whipple f150s but I couldn’t justify 53k for a regular cab truck that would be a garage kept toy for her and I. I found a nice white rcsb Chevy, it’s a far cry from a new truck but something I can build and enjoy.

The day I brought it home

It needed a new set of wheels ASAP!!! So I found a set of Fat Fives and refinished them.

The fun stuff…

The goal is to have a fun date night cruiser, also be tame enough for her to drive it and feel comfortable in it.

mild 5.3 with cam and bolt ons(I went ahead and opened up the ring gap to .30)
3000 stall
4.10 gears/posi
Maybe a power adder later

Got the block cleaned up, I installed new dura bond cam bears along with king rods and mains.

Home diy polish

Richard Holdener truck cam along with head studs

Only the best Amazon gaskets for this rig

It’s been hot and busy at work so the swap won’t happen until February-ish, so I’ve been buying more parts and adding a few things

Added fog lights. I think I’m going to keep the oem halogen bulbs, I enjoy the LED bulbs in my other trucks but some reason i prefer the OG halogens on the one.

15in conversion. Havent made up my mind on wheels. Most likely be chrome race stars, maybe by then they will offer the chrome with a beadlock

Looks like a nice clean slate! I'm partial to Bogarts but also Weld s77's looks sweet on these trucks!

What type of power adder are you leaning towards?

this truck is very clean. I paid v8 price for a v6 truck but I hate body work and mix matched colors.

I really like bogarts, basically 4300ish shipped for 17/15 beadlocks. The realistic side of me says get race stars and be happy, it’s a street truck.

Long term would be a procharger. The fit and finish is really nice. Short term probably a nitrous outlet plate.

I went through many sets of wheels before I finally was content on my bogarts. Which were the wheels I wanted all along. I've slowly learned to just pony up from the get go haha.

Procharger would be nice. We recently put a 75mm torqstrom on our giveaway truck with a 408. And it made 730 to the tire. They're some nice little blowers. Should check them out. Paired it with a huron speed intercooler kit. Made for a simple install
