Was his block zero decked? What gasket thickness did he use? It's still worth checking, does he know if the 243's came off an actual LS6 or are they just 243's off a LS2? They both had differnet valves, If the rods are the wrong length the valvetrain geometry will not be correct. If they are long the hydraulic lifters will soak some of the difference up but then your being hard on the lifters. The only way to do it right is to assemble the whole motor and use the pushrod length checker, if they are the right length your out like $20 till you get it resold on Ebay or in the classifieds, if you their not you can order the right ones and have them in three days tops. Either way it's better then possibly taking out a engine project you just soaked a couple grand into....
