i picked up a bed sunday, set it up in the driveway for a few pics. yesterday i got a lot of work done on the frame, i will probably get it back together next time i work on it. i still need a drivers side fender and the bumper in the pics is a front bumper, idk if i can straighten it out to use on the back or if im going to make something. (I'm thinking a single 3" tube bumper)

VERY cool! Looks like a very fun build..a little at a time...

I built a 56 GMC about 8 years ago and miss the hell out of it...I had 4link/air bags in the rear and nova2 up front...It was a Flat dark purple with a glossy antifreeze green steel wheels/scallops...and pinstriped to hell!!!!

Enjoy your build.......

thinking about changing drivetrain plans. i was going to drop in a 5.3 with tr224 cam, milled 243s, 8.1L injectors, nitrous and full bolt ons but now i think i want to build an iron block ls1 and put a 78mm(ish) turbo on it with a nice cam. if i stick with the original plan my DD is going to get a stock 5.3 with only an ls6 cam, if i choose the latter i will keep the engine in my truck and just build one for the 53.

What do you guys think?

I say build an iron ls1 for the 53, and put a stock 5.3 with the Z cam in the daily. Nothing like having a nice daily, and a race/weekend car/truck. IMO
