Default 6.0 Stick Shift Tahoe (NV4500)

Went and bought Axekick's 2004 2wd 6.0 NV4500 Tahoe out in the great state of Texas this weekend and blasted it back to Florida without a hiccup. Even averaged 17-18 mpg on the trip back.

For power it’s got a recently rebuilt 6.0 with a 212/218 high lift cam, lightly worked 862s with LS6 valves, NNBS intake, Long tubes and 3in dual exhaust.

Drive train is a rebuilt NV4500 5 speed manual Trans, Factory 10bolt with 3.43s and a G80.

Suspension is just de-cranked stock keys, Eibach springs and factory shocks with shock extenders.

First Impressions are that it is much quicker than expected. The SUV 5 link hooks way better than my RCSB. The 6.0 feels very peppy, lots of torque but doesn't fall on its face on the top end either. Trans shifts just like my other NV4500 it’s not a corvette t56 but man is it fun to bang gears.

Thank you she looks pretty good for having 230k on the clock. I'm thinking HD front end swap for appearance mods and thats about it.

I am very impressed with the ride quality for what I would consider a very budget 2/3 drop.

You can prob work that quarter dent out by popping out the tail light and get you a body hammer and dolly in there too, if you cared.

I have 99-02 HD hood, but I'm in NM, shipping would probably double the cost. It's an option for you if you want 👌🏻

I will probably try that to the dent. I'm terrible at body work but I don't think I could make it worse lol.

What color is the hood? they are seriously tough to find down here. Heck I even stopped at a big pick and pull outside of Austin that Axekick told me about. There must have been over 200 GMT-800 trucks and not a single HD hood of either generation.

Looking on Amazon and Flea-bay they are about $500 primered.

Mine is OE, and it's white. I looked for years. Bought 2 in the end, the one that's on my truck and a spare. Trying to sort out my life and 6 vehicles, so I wouldn't mind off loading some of my spares to help a brotha

as for the dent, slow and steady wins the rains. Heat gun on the paint and small taps, support with a dolly or sand bag. You'll get it 👌🏻

What's the first mod on the truck now that she's home? Retune? Blower? 14bolt?

Tune seems really good to me! Axekick is very knowledgeable and tuned the truck himself I don’t see any issues there. In fact I need to get off my butt and learn to do some tuning so a NA 6.0 should be a good place to start.

I don’t think I want to go 14bolt since this is supposed to be the mild of my 2 trucks. I was thinking keep the 3.42s but ditch the G80 for a trutrac with maybe some decent shafts and a girdle.

As far as power goes it will likely stay as is for a while maybe a trick turbo down the road? Or a big silly stroker.

I would love to turbo my Tahoe. I can eek 17 out of her on a good trip with lots of flat road. I'd love to see that be 19-20 under the same conditions, but have 200 more hp on tap

your Yukon is a new DD for you?

17-18 is more than I expected I figured 15 would be about the best I would ever see. Yes the Tahoe is taking over DD duties. I have a few other beaters still kicking around but I like the safe feeling of a full size truck and the ice cold AC! I figured a turbo would work good with the 2wd and all season tires rather than a blower which just on the baby 4.8 in my RCSB obliterates 33s.

Replaced the completely destroyed fog lights today and made an appointment for a new windshield.

Also had an ECSB ecoboost try me from a light. I killed him from the launch and put a few car lengths on him with a hard 1-2 shift. Missed third like an idiot and by the time I got back in it he was at my door. Held him there until about 90 when I let out. Old dude looked mad.
