I was kinda hoping to find some article that said “less than .035 quench is what we recommend for street motors!” But that would be a bad idea so I’ll wait till I have it apart and measure the deck clearance before ordering anymore parts. I’ll just have to accept it will be pulled apart 1-2weeks no biggy.

Thank you for the timing chain info! I need to start ordering that stuff so I can do the oil pump and timing stuff while I wait for the head gaskets to come in.

Hopefully this mystery bottom end like more power

I ordered my Rollmaster through WS6store. They have good prices, free shipping ($100+) and no sales tax. They are hotroders too so there is always good support. They don't carry a gazillion parts like Summit but if they have it in stock and the price is right I usually hit them up.

Here is the Rollmaster I bought. It shows lifters in the photo, did when I ordered, but It's the chain set lol

C5R (top), C7R (middle), Elite Drive (bottom)
the bottom one is what's in my car - but for cheaper than the C5R

I've had good luck with the WS6 store before, I think that's where I got the Rollermaster for my RCSB engine. Looks like you did the oil pump and timing set without dropping the pan, any tips in that regard? I really don't want to break the seal on an oil pan that doesn't leak a drop.

That looks beefy! Is messaging him the only way to order it? I didn't see any engine stuff on RKTs site.

I didn't. But I really should have put in the retrofit. Just for piece of mind.

Might need to get a set of .045s.
Here's a help center article from our site on the very subject of quench and the recommended ranges.

Is the retrofit an OEM part? or something aftermarket?

That's the after photo... not a contortionist so I opted to drop the pan, 2wd is pretty easy. 4wd I don't know the procedure.

Modified Harbor Freight 3 jaw puller with 2 large hose clamps to keep jaws on the OEM crank gear. The clamp helps when you don't have a 3rd hand to secure the jaws. Rollmaster crank gear installed by hand.

Pan off

Pan clean with new gasket in place. I used a little RTV on the corners between the new gasket and the pan. The nuts and bolts (finger tight) were used to secure the gasket to the pan while the RTV setup so no slips during install. (zero leaks)
