Yes they are the multi layer metal ones like factory.

Yeah i was gonna do that, run the factory bolts ground down through them and blow them out with brake clean.

What do people reconmend for getting old head gasket off the heads? Last time my heads were planed so i didnt have to worry about that

Well it has been a sucess so far

New lifters quieted the engine noise down quite a bit. Only issue was the downpipe didnt line up quite right by the wastegate and i wrecked one of the v band clamps. So it leaks a little bit right now and i have a welded together v band ive got to get a new one....

Not many updates but figured id do it anyways

Havent changed anything on the setup really, I got a detroit trutrac for christmas and thats in there now. The oil seal on the exhaust side of the turbo is letting go, you can smell the burning oil and it smokes at idle lightly. When spring comes Im planning on getting the On3 78/76.

Im goin to college in Vermont and the truck couldnt be happier up here, nothing gets the IATs colder than when its -5 up here lol

Plowed with the truck for the first time and it pushes snow like a diesel. Only issue is I have to careful about the plow angle while driving or else the temp starts climbing

So my oil seal on the exhaust side of the turbo is burning oil, nothing crazy but its not getting better. So when I get my tax return back I was gonna buy a new one. Originally I was gonna get the 78/76 On3 but after some looking around I thought about going bigger and/or better quality. I know everyone loves the S480s and im still considering that but I looked around and found these options

CX Racing GT45 $584
5" Air Inlet
- 3.25" Vband Compressed Air Outlet
- Ceramic Ball Bearing on Compressor Side Compressor
- Standard T4 Turbine Housing Flange
- 3.5" V-Band Exhaust Outlet
- Oil Cooled
- 0.60 A/R Compressor
- 1.15 A/R Turbine
- Compressor Wheel (Major/Exducer): 80/108mm
- Turbine Wheel (Major/Inducer): 77.4/88.9 mm

On3 $399
Compressor Wheel 78mm
.80 a/r
4” Inlet and 2.5” Compressor Outlet
Exhaust Housing T-4 Flange
.96 ar Exhaust Housing
3.0″ Vband outlet
Exducer- 76mm

Turbonetics T-Series $1332
78/75
BALL BEARING
T4 flange
3" V-band Downpipe Exit
4" Compressor Inlet
2.5" Compressor Outlet
.96 or 1.15 exhaust housing
(From Huron Speed)

Comp CT43 $1535
78/79 (or other smaller sizes)
Journal or ball bearing
oil cooled or oil + water cooled
T4 3" 3.5" 4"
.81 .84 .96 1.15 1.32
(From huron speed)

BW T4 S400 $1049
75 or 80 compressor (80 is $150 more)
83 mm turbine
.90 1.00 1.10 1.25 exhaust a/r
(From huron speed)

S400SX-78 ETT $879
1.10 ar 83mm
T6 and T4
(From forced inductions, never heard of this turbo)

I like the on3 for the price but the quality of the borg warner Ive heard is great. The CX racing seems good cause its priced in between but Id have to redo my down pipe.

So Im kinda torn right now....

The borg is a much better turbo than the on3/crx stuff. Turbonetics is ok too, but there are 3 times as many borgs floating around as turbonetics.

So I know this is probably a stupid question but I need a new tune when I put the new bigger turbo on correct?

Im gonna go with On3 for now, itll get me to my goals and more at the moment and some day when I want somewhere north of 600 Ill prob go for the BW. Not to mention my truck needs a whole new front end I found out, yay Vermont winters

It would be wise to get one.

Bigger turbo will act different and produce different boost numbers at different rpms.
