67 Nova Pro Touring Build Thread
well you guys asked for it so here it is!! Picked up this car Oct. 6, 2012 from a very very close friend of mine. It took me almost 2 years to convince him to sell it to me. He had started building it back in 95, and stopped working on it in late 96. It had been sitting in his garage until I bought it. He grafted in the front k member out of a 95 vette, as well as the rear independent suspension. He also did a full frame off of the original. It had a new LT1 and ZF6 speed when I got it. Here are the pics of the day I got it...

After I got it home, the first thing i did was remove the rearend and LT1. I sold the LT1 and traded the rearend and ZF6 for a fully built 10 bolt(i know its a 10 bolt!!) and new 4l60e tranny. Since I had the rearend now and LT1 gone, I bought the S&W Racecars parallel 4 link, and got the LS1/4l60e mocked up and installed.

Next came the wheels, inner fenders and front coil overs. I searched on several Vette forums and found what all I needed to convert the front monoleaf suspension into a coilover set up. QA1s were installed up front and then came wheels! I looked forever for a set of wheels. I didnt wanna spend 3500-4k for a set of one offs, so after measuring and measuring, I decided on some 18x8.5 C6 z06 reps all the way around.

i was getting excited by this point, so ordered my front and rear tires. Fronts are BFG KDW 225/45/18, rears at the time were 255/40/18. Also finished up the rear suspension w/ QA1 coilovers. Picked up a few various engine brackets, a/c comp. and intake for the ls1. Im having to use the C5 accessories for the room.

and this brings me to where I am today. I found a pair of 19x10 C6 z06 reps with the correct offset and color. They are 19x10s w/ 8" backspacing. They will have a 2" polished lip. I bought them monday, and they will be here tomorrow. This brought me to a delima. I called discount tire where i ordered my first set of tires and asked them if it was possible to return my rear tires I bought 6 months ago. Surprisingly the let me!! so took the 255/40/18s back and ordered my new 285/35/19!! Picked them up yesterday. The wheels will fit perfectly with the width of my rear end. I will have to mini tub it now though. No biggie, Detroit Speed and Engineering has the new mini tubs for the gen 2 novas!! ill get pics of the tires installed on the wheels this weekend!
