A buddy of mine has a 99 Ford F-150 and was running 24" wheels. He ran the tires down and went in for a new set but ended up with a whole new tire and wheel package so he brought over his old wheels and we put them up under the 2002/1972 truck. Now he says I should buy them from him.... He thinks it looks great but I'm not sold yet. He told me I could keep it parked on them until I make up my mind. Now I know this look isn't for everyone so I don't expect everyone to like it but I still would like some input here. The last pic is photo shopped to make it sit about 4" lower and that's how I like the look of it but please give me your thoughts on it.
And the 4" lowered pic

I think 24's, even lowered on that body style is going to look to out of place. Once it's painted And finished it could make a huge difference but I too am not sure I am sold on them

With all of the time and effort you've put into this build so far, why would you not straighten the frame so your body mounts are level? Rather than weld in one high, and one low?
If the body mounts are that far off, then how far off are the suspension and steering points?
The new cluster looks great, and I'm jealous of your metalwork skills.

Yeah I don't mind the big flashy wheels but they have to be on the right vehicle. And as I said I'm not sold these are for this truck. They looked good on the 99 but that's a very different body style. Thanks for the input I might still pick them up to trade or sale if he doesn't mind that I don't keep them.

One of the many pages in the past I talked about how it was strange but the frame rails are not the same size in the front. The drivers side rail is much larger and the only thing I could think of is that the steering box is mounted to the frame almost right under the radiator so being that far forward the factory beefed it up (why they wouldn't make the passenger side the same is beyond me, most likely to save a few $$$) Also the radiator mounts I used you can see that they were different sizes too because of the different sized frame rails. So anyway what this all means is I don't believe the frame needed to be straightened and I also know the history of the truck and it was never in a collision that was any more than light body damage (in the rear side of the bed). I understand your concern and it made me pause when I kept getting a different measurement on the front end.

It looks Very getto with the wheels.
If you go bagged and tuck the hell out of them it might look good but that wheel at the 4" lowered look is getto in my opinion.

Sorry guys been real busy on a baja bug build for a friend. His wife has cancer so he couldn't work on it any more. He asked if I could finish it but there is a ton of work to complete it so the truck has been put on hold until the baja is out of my shop. For some reason I didn't get any updates about the post you had left??? Any way not to worry the 24's were bought and then flipped and I used the extra $$$ to pick up a 72 Ford Hi-Boy F-250 4x4 390 truck. Needs a lot of work but it was to cool to pass up.

Wow, how is this the first time I'm seeing this thread?!
You sir are a great fabricator!!! Can't wait to see this all finished up.
I'll go against the grain here and say... though they wouldn't be my first choice, and I wouldn't pay much for them... I kind of like the 24s with the 4" drop height. I think it would look a lot better when all finished up with a nice set of bigger drilled rotors peakin out from behind those wheels

Hey everyone sorry I’ve been gone so long but I do have a little progress to report even though I'm not working on it I do keep planning and picking up parts. Something new is I have decided to go with a fuel injected 4.6L from a 98 mustang I picked up. It was my nephew's car that he loved and took good care of until someone rear-ended him and totaled the car. The motor still runs great and is real strong so it should be a good fit as that is same type motor that was in the F150 as well. I also picked up a lowering kit for the 2002 chassis to drop it about 4" and a set of aftermarket wheels and tires that where on a 2003 Lightning. The wheels are a little big for my taste but will do for now.
here are a few pic's as no update is any good without them....lol
The 98 Mustang
It got hit so hard that the door overlaps the rear door jam by a good 4" and it buckled the door and the front fender on the the drivers side.
The wheels on the 2003 Lightning
The day I got them
And last of all how the project sits today....
